I think the main reason and maybe the only reason the Yanx threatened in the 9th was because Keuchel was well over 100 pitches and was gassed.
Yep,.......Ya' gotta' believe, where did this Keuchel kid come out of Supermans Phone Booth..........
Keuchel played here in Lancaster, and tho' he started 18 games, with a losing 5-8 W/L record, a .336 ERA, tho' he had 120.2 IP, with 97 K's, and 25 BBs' with 10 HR's in a pure hitters A+ park, it was easy to see Dallas would make the Big Club in a short time, just a matter of working out his mechanics. His fastball in A+ ball, was explosive.........Now he's painting corners like Randy Johnson, tho' its not right to compare Him to RJ, not a this time, yet, I never watched RJ in the Minors.....;
The Stro's have had all their #1 draft picks play here, as they've had those #1 or #2 picks for 4 years in a row now, and they are beginning to pay off, even tho' Keuchel was not chosen til the 9th round. Altuve was spectacular here in LandScatter......where the wind blows 30-50 mph most games, to RF......
last game I attended last year, there were 7 Hr's by the Home Team, and 2 by the Visitors.......
Another kid who I watched throw a 1 Hitter here, who should be in the Majors soon is/was: a kid SP named Vincent Velasquez. Now in AA, he Struck out 72 batter in 52.1 IP. That was His best game so far in the Minors. Sitting right behind Home Plate, next to the guy with the Radar Gun, I guessed he was throwing 99 mph, and when I asked, the guy said, He's throwing 110 mph, I said, Your fkng kidding me, no fkn way, he laughed, showed me his gun, and it displayed 99mph consistently.....
Look for him in 016 or 017, when the Stro's enter the ALCS.........I've said this for 2 years now........the Stro's are slowly building a dynasty, with some damn fine Draft Picks, over 4 years, hell they got all the top guys, which doesn't ensure success, yet guys like Keuchel was picked in the 9th round.........Odd how many #1 first round picks, never find success,
shaded of Steve Chilcott in 66......#1 pick, first round over Reggie, the #2 pick, Chilcott a Catcher, blew his arm out the 1st year in the Mets Farm System, and remained a Minor Lgr, for he next 7 years, before hanging it up......Steve was a graduate of my Alma Mater, approx 3 yrs before I graduated from H.S. NTM- JimS Slaton and Dwayne Murphy would follow..........but they lasted in the Majors, unlike Chilcott........
