He has just as much money. yankees are playing by the rules, if anyone isnt, its the cheap owners who upset the balance of power by inflicting caps on them selves that are miserably low. yankees = help baseball become a more profitable, exciting and quality professional.owners who limit thier own team cuz they are greedy = hurt baseball, by angering fans and hurting competitive balance</div>Your also neglecting to realize that any other owner in baseball could not possibly afford to spend 192 million on their payroll, except for maybe the Mets.
In order to spend 192 million in payroll, you have to be able to get 192 million back in revanue for spending all of that money. It's a simple law of buisness.</div>The Yankees don't make that money back, they lose money.</div>Which would explain why the Yankees payroll dropped last off-season, right? It's a buisness and the Yankees werent getting enough revanue in return to feed thier spending ways, so they had to drop their payroll some to make sure they dont lose that money again this year. It's the same thing the small market teams do, except on a smaller scale. When a small market team spends to put a competitive team on the field and they still rank 15th in the National league in attendance (The 2005 Florida Marlins), they didnt have the money to keep up their spending ways so they had to slash payroll. Now granted, they slashed their payroll more then anybody would have ever expected, but thats their right under the current rules.
