I could live with that. A 277 career hitter with some pop (12-15 HRs) & some speed. Currently he's signed through 2015 at $10M so the price is right. Question is what do we have that they would want.
The Mets are also interested which means if they really want him, they'll get him.
They just have too many good young SP arms as trade bait....absolutely loaded.

I can also "live with" a SS who lead all A.L. shortstops in HRs, RBI, XBH, TB, SLG%, 2nd in runs scored, 2nd in OPS, 4th in BA and 4th in SB (21/25).
Yeah, I think this Yankee offense can also live with it.
He does make a few errors but still has good range...and I guess we can also "live" with that. lol

Well we have an abundance of catching to deal for.
We seriously need to address SS because as I've mentioned before I just can't shake this bad feeling that when all is said & done Drew is going to be our starting SS in 2015.

I know this isn't going to be a popular opinion and I can't blame someone who may disagree but, here goes....
If the Yanks do get stuck with Drew, maybe, I think, with a full ST and a fresh start he can bounce back and give us .245-255 with a few HRs and play a good shortstop.
He's had three seasons with OPS in the .800s and was .777 his last season (2013) at Boston. There's a fair chance he can do some damage swinging at Yankee Stadium - if he's back on track.
However, I would prefer the Yanks find another SS preferably some speedy kid who looks good in ST. I don't know where or how, but the Yanks should begin their search for the "future" shortstop immediately and get him IN THERE!

The M's have two, depending on what you're looking for. Brad Miller is more of a "good enough pop at SS to overcome the average D" while Chris Taylor is a "great-fielding slap singles hitter". With Bloomquist (smh) as our utility player, we don't necessarily need a stud pure backup SS.
The Yanx have been looking for a replacement SS since at least 2010, or did ya' already forget Cito Culver??? #1 round draft pick.....! Wowee wow wow wow....!![]()

We'lll take a pass on that but thank you.
I second Rick on this
Fair enough. I know you guys have money to go after the TuLos of the world, but if that doesn't work out there aren't a ton of better options--just didn't know if the M's guys were on your radar.
FWIW, Fangraphs/Steamer Projections have them as two of the top 6 SSs in baseball. Neither one will get 600 PAs, of course, especially if both are on our team, but it's one of the few positions of strength the M's farm/recent graduates have. And they're both a heckuva lot better and cheaper than Stephen Drew.
Like I said, just tossing it out there. I get it if there are bigger fish on your horizon.
For people like 2B or C or OF, I'd rather fill from the farm where we can deal with the growing pains, but SS, we'd need to go after someone who has "the chops" so to speak... We don't have anyone in the farm good enough to say we'll deal with the growing pains...
