It's almost like he brought Chapman in earlier than usual, knowing he'd predictably shit the bed for the umpteenth time in a row, but would still give the Yanx a chance to come back instead of letting Chapman blow it in the 9th.

Y’all keep talking like either of them are gonna be fired. Hal DOES NOT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT WINNING! He’s a spoiled rich kid who never had to work a day in his life. All he cares about is money. He knows the Yankees will always attract fans, so winning doesn’t matter. He’s proven that time and again. Then he comes out and tells BaBoone and Trashman “your jobs are safe, it’s all on the players” thereby alleviating them from any blame (meanwhile Trashman put this roster of “players” together so he should be of more blame than BaBoone honestly). Once Hal said those remarks, BaBoone and Trashman effectively know that they are off the hook and if Hal were to fire them now he looks terrible because he just said they’d be safe and Hal is a very optics kind of guy, which was made clear when he said he’s not his father and won’t make rash decisions (even though this isn’t a rash decision, this would be a decision that should’ve been made years ago).

N/M...I had forgotten that on double header days, the games are only 7 innings long....which is also BS.
