Yankees send scouts to see Aramis Ramirez

I just wish they would stop adding players who have been done for years, realize what they are....not very good, and sell off what they can in the hopes of building toward a better future. Especially if CC is going to continue to pitch like a #5, the yanks are going nowhere, and Aramis Ramirez, or someone else like Justin Morneau sure isnt going to change that.

He's owed $16 mill next year, his final contract year, if NY can get them to pay some of that he may be the best 3B option they can get at this point.

I guess if you figure A-rod is going far away never to return. Other than that 1 year or not, "wasting" 16 mil on yet another over 35 player is not exactly the direction i want to see this team make. And as i mentioned, if CC is pitching like a #5, Andy is up and down and teh yankees have exactly 1 starter to rely on, what happens at 3B really prob won't matter much for this year anyway.

The best thing that can happen with this tough schedule is for the Yankees to fall out of the race. That will save them from doing something stupid and hit them with a real dose of reality.

Messiah, i never actually root against the yankees, but you may be right. Especially with this clown they have as a GM. Have we successfully scouted every player who is 35 or older yet? I am not sure.

This is not 2000 where you're looking to add a David Justice in order to make a playoff and world series run. I can understand being embarrassed some of the players being run out there everyday but it is what it is with all the injuries this team has had to deal with. The focus should be not making a complete disaster worse.

I agree... trade away what you can for whatever you can get... the time to rebuild is now... I just don't think Cashman or the Steinbrenners see that...

I agree with you Messiah (and Blue)... I hate rooting for the opposing team, but if they fall out of the race completely, it very well could be a blessing in the sense that no more over the hill, bad contract rejects from other teams would be added...

It's just the reality of the situation. It would be less frustrating if you saw them making plans for the future instead of compounding their problems. Even before the injuries they were at a cross roads in terms of big money contracts and pending free agent situations.

The Yankees are not getting good young players from other teams, it has to happen at the farm and hopefully these new picks are good ones.

how come other teams do it all the time and the Yankees can't?

The Mets traded Carlos Beltran and got Zach Wheeler...

The thing with Beltran is that he was coming off some injury filled season where his production was way down. Given the Mets situation it was really not a gamble trading him and getting what they could. Wheeler could turn out to be a bust so we have to wait and see. Cano is pending free agent so it wouldn't make sense for a team to give up great prospects when they can just make an offer in free agency.

And the Yankees got Pineda, but it doesn't happen all the time... it's rare.

Someone needs to have a sit down with Cano NOW! let him know what the yanks can offer as far as years. Say 6 & see how he reacts. If he says he's looking for something closer to 8 then we trade him & see what we can get. Otherwise he signs with another team next season & we get nothing.

Sure hope at this late date that conversation has already happened but with no-cash anymore man who knows. Agree cano should be offered 6 yrs max at around 120 mill take it or leave it and if answer is no trade him for whatever prospects you can get or take the pick at the end of the season. Only problem again is that cashman has shown no propensity for procuring young talent whether through the draft or trade and I hate the fact that Hal looks like hes too big a pussy to pull the plug on him and go get a farm director from tampa, texas or st.louis that has a proven track record for getting young talent to be our new gm

Besides, age, talent, and injuries, what I feel is missing the most is player character. I just don't see Cano being the leader of a rebuild. He never busts it down the line, he is smooth no question, talented, and our best player, but not a leader. Think when we had Tino Paul, Jeter, Posada, Andy, Mo. Has a team ever had so many leaders of good character that their engines would be running every inning, every game? If they did, I bet they also won championships.

Hell even guys like Damon & more recently Swisher brought life to this team.

If the guy is healthy I'd welcome him with open arms, the guy was solid last year and can play, and would be a huge upgrade, so if they can get him do it, I'm not giving up on 2013 just yet.
