At “our age” we should be held in high esteem even for the simple reason that we have reached our age through
many challenges. And for that alone I salute you.

Thanks, and I agree...but for me at least, considering some of the stupid shit I did in my younger days, it's a wonder that I even made it to the age of 21.

As far as Gardener being resigned, all I can say is "meh". He probably could/should have stolen twice as many bases as he did if he had been more decisive and aggressive on the base paths.

And I've always been annoyed by his "approach" at the plate by trying too hard to "work the count". That approach is fine when facing mediocre pitching but when facing quality pitching, once an ace gets you in a 2 strike hole the pitcher has a huge advantage over the batter. How many times over the years have we watched Gardner stand there with the bat on his shoulders as he watches a called strike 3 goes by him?

Instead of working the count he should instead be attacking the first pitch which is often a FB...this approached is abundantly clear by Gardner's career splits below;

Gardner first pitch; .353 .372 .587 .959

2 strike count; ....... .190 .272 .270 .542

Here's a little more double-talk from Boone on how Brett Gardner's signing could impact Clint Frazier's playing time:

"I expect Clint to be our leftfielder and to be in that starting lineup, whoever we bring in here. Obviously, a guy like Gardy is a guy that would play a lot, as a lot of our guys that will, quote unquote, be bench players or whatever. But Clint is going to be a regular player for us going into the season."

Another Boone double twist of the tongue.

^^^^^numbskull, jibberjabber.......never have I heard so much bullshit from an empty brain! I can’t even
imagine his interview to be the Yankee manager.......gutless management couldn’t even show him the door.
A true Yankee Hokie! All he does is gobble just like a turkey.

I get the fact that Gardner has been a long time pinstriper but I would not have given him $4 Mil for 2021...the money could have been used elsewhere and/or allowed a youngster to move up to the Yanx's roster.

Can anyone give me another example of a 5th OFer getting $4 Mil for a 1 year deal?

He played decently as a NYY catcher in a series and this is his regard.
