Pirates sign Ryan Vogelsong to a 1 year contract as per Jon Morosi.

...Rick, for me there's no passion for the franchise right now...I mean, there's no "face" of the Yankees, n one player that makes me want to follow them, root for them, much less spend money and go to the ball park to see them play.

...let me ask everyone a simple question; If someone were to ask you what Yankee player first comes to mind when you think of the Yankeea?...see what I mean?

...hopefully, things will eventually change for the better.

If you mean the Yanks don't have a young exciting star, I can understand it- but if we try and read between the lines, there's a pretty fair chance (imo) Yankee fans should/could kinda get a bit excited about the prospects and possibilities of Severino being in the rotation from day one- has a chance to be one of the best homegrown Yankee SP in a long time, and possibly one of the better young pitchers in the LEAGUE.
Sanchez? I'm a bit excited about the chances of him making the team as the backup catcher and getting his career going.....by many accounts, he's an exciting young hitter. What about Heathcott? A first round draft choice with very good skills who (imo) "only" needs to show he can stay healthy- I think he's a kinda exciting player.....not putting him in the HOF but this kid looks like he can do it all.

Castro OF COURSE is going to be a work in progress at 2d but he's a .281career hitter and career .295 /.344/.759 vs LHP....I am anxious about this soon to be 26 yr old "2b" - It'll be very interesting to see how he transitions over at 2b, sure he could become a butcher as the "regular" 2b, and for the sake of fairness, ( jeez I'm wacky lol) he could also become a competent (or maybe better? lol) 2b and I would hope there's also at least a little bit of excitement(?) (anxiousness?) about whether or not Didi can continue to mature and heaven forbid, get better?

We all know everything isn't wonderful in Yankeeland.....but should we all proceed with the premise that all or most of their "question marks" and most of their young acquisitions/additions will flop with a loud thud?

And when you say:
"not even one player that makes me want to follow them",
I have to add- there isn't a single player who I would "pay" to see play on The World Champion KC Royals.

jmho

Getting caught up finally....nice to see B Ryan was the player TBN in the Castro deal as well as Garrett Jones will be playing in Japan for 2016.

Yeah you hate losing a player like Ryan & I can only imagine how tough a decision it had to be for Cashman.

Right? I mean the agony of assessing that move on the plan must have been excruciating.

ESPN reports that the Tigers have reached an agreement with Mike Aviles as per Buster Olney.

CBS Sports reports that the Marlins have made an offer of a 5 year contract extension to Dee Gordon as per Jon Heyman.

^^^the Marlins would be smart to hold on to Gordon. They need a lot more than just Stanton to be a credible force.

^^^ My sentiments exactly, they would be foolish to let this guy get away.

And I would be foolish to let you guys get away.........:bgrin:
Sorry bad day at work.

You're stuck with us sunshine. Hey any chance you can recruit a few new members for the upcoming season?

Ron I agree, the Yankees always had at least that one player that you wanted to see bat. The player where you just "Held it in" until his AB was done. Currently there is no such player on this team.

...^^^ as usual, your right on the mark, Rick, oh wait, nah yer full of shit.....
65-69, 71-75, 88-93, now those were some hard years....and so are these years....

Matts-Manifesto, (its been a helluva long week, so I've got to vent, make up for lost time).....I know I'm not fooling anyone, with this statement),......

If the Team doesn't play up to their potential, or worse yet doesn't even have realistic potential; then let the boo birds sing. This Team is more than a radical departure from the days of King George, to Hank. The way this Team has been run since Our King passed, is like night and day, or like a hot Philly Cheesesteak compared to a Shit Sandwich.

I never quit wearing my Yankees Starter Coat and Hat to work, during those bad years, but didn't wave my Pom Poms either, and too often had to "realistically" agree, those teams sucked of epic proportions, then some.

in those horrid years, I got enough shit to build a mountain; (in a AC Plant of 7,000+ workers; more MLB Fans than you'd ever see outside of any MLB Stadium). Enough shit I humbly wiped my face off, and agreed....To say otherwise, & to try to defend one's "pitiful Team" IS the essence of a blind Homer's tiring pathetic rants/raves. Ludicrous enough to question whether those who defend a pile of shit, puts his/her beliefs in front of the reality he/she blocks out, like a burned out light bulb, ....some will have the gall to argue regardless of how pathetic this Team has become...I guess those Homer's also believe in the Easter Bunny I shot and BBQ'd, when my Boys were kids.....Same with Santa, I burned his ass, and shot his reindeer; always had a fire blazing, with the .257 Roberts locked and loaded, on Xmas Eve.....

That doesn't mean one has to be an unrealistic Homer of a Fan, when their team Sux; while belittling other Yanx fans, because they're not buying into the bullshit parade; and waving their pom poms.

The very Majority of Fans here, can & do see thru the veil of shit on the field. The same Fans here, who are simply telling the truth, calling a spade a spade, and this Team has been a spade for too long now.....Pathetic to say the least.....!!!

Luckily the A's signed Henderson Alvarez. Typical of Trashman, Alvarez is nothing more than a long middle reliever, who underwent Shoulder Surgery, and is not expected to even pitch the 1st month or more.

Here's the news article on the A's picking up Alvarez, thank God Trashman didn't bring home the 1st Tom cat he found in the gutter, but give it time and he'll sign a Tom-Cat with Parvo, .....and overpay him too.....

Have to admit, I never realized winning 87 games, finishing with the 4th best record in their league out of 15 and qualifying for a post season berth was "pathetic" and this same pathetic team is without any young players penciled in for 2016 who have already displayed good ability?
Including a 22 yr old SP who was without a doubt one of the highly regarded prospects and highly sought after players.

It certainly is true the majority of those Yankee fans which consists of 6-8 people on a particular Yankee Forum Board have low expectations and a grim outlook for this team going forward in 2016......
I wasn't pleased and satisfied with the 2015 results and they OBVIOUSLY need to improve and address a couple of issues to be considered legitimate playoff/WS contenders.....this is clear to see even to blind homers waving pom poms.....I have no delusions regarding this team as we speak here and now- they appear to be far from being (imo) one of the favorites to win their division.... but is it unrealistic and silly to think their "question marks" or weaknesses will be filled and the team will at least improve on their "pathetic" 87 wins from 2015?

The 2016 team and overall outlook isn't quite the same as it was 2-3 years ago.....the organization from a couple of years ago wasn't in the same position as it now is with young players and good prospects and no end in sight to a couple of big contracts.
Maybe one good thing about being a blind, stupid, pom-pom waving "homer" is not getting stuck behind the curve as the team evolves.

It is all a matter of opinion - some fans are just miserable pessimistic gripers who are joyless unless the team has been installed as a solid preseason favorite to win the division with 95 or so games.... and can't appreciate the concept or anticipation of possible unknown factors which makes a team come together and pleasantly surprise.

New York Post reports that the Mets are in talks with free agent Denard Span as per Ken Davidoff.

^^^ When healthy he a good player but last seasons injuries make him kind of risky. In 2015 he played in only 61 games due to 3 separate injuries. two of them requiring surgery including a season ending torn labrum (hip).

Interesting call on Span, will he be his old self, or will hip surgery plaque him the rest of his career, and/or eliminate his Base Stealing prowess...?

Span has planned a special work out in Tampa after the New Year, for Teams to see what he's got.

The free agent center fielder says he fully recovered from his hip surgery and his agent Scott Bor-ass says Span is running at full speed. Bor-ass planned the workout so that teams won’t be apprehensive about offering a 3-4 year deal. Bor-ass is the epitome of a pain in the ass gluttonous agent....

FanGraphs projects Span to get a three year deal valued at $36 million, paying him through his age 34 season.

FOX Sports reports that the Nationals are moving on from acquiring Brandon Phillips from the Reds and are pursuing other options as per Ken Rosenthal.

___________

I must've missed this one, what did Trashman do now?
What was so typical of Trashman- NOT signing Alvarez?....being interested in Alvarez? Him being anxious to overpay for a middle reliever coming off shoulder surgery? Should we expect him to sign a "Tom- Cat" and over pay him too?
Jeez, the "plan" really is ever changing.....the Yanks used 19 rookies last year, 3rd most in MLB including no less than 5 rookie relievers- Rumbelow, Goody, Pinder, Pazos, Lindgren, Shreve.....and now Trashman is going to "overpay" for a veteran middle reliever?

Luckily some of us can see right through his charade. Right?

We're on the ball!

Rob was being SARCASTIC. 1) A taunting caustic remark, generally ironic 2) The making of such remarks.

MLB.com reports that Wei-Yin Chen is on the Nationals radar as per Bill Ladson.

CSNBayArea.com reports that the Athletics "remain in pursuit" of Scott Kazmir as per Joe Stiglich.

FOX Sports reports that the Dodgers and Marlins "remain in discussions" about a Jose Fernandez trade as per Jon Morosi.

This just in....as insurance for CC, Brian Cashman is in talks with Randy Johnson and David Wells.
