Yep, got a million laughs out of "Mad" from the time I was a kid up into my late twenties.

...same here...ya know, the one comic stip that I always looked for in Mad Magazine was "Spy vs Spy"...remember them guys?

Yeah, I even have a box of old Mad Magazines from when I was a kid, and some more mags, that belonged to my kids........

A worthy comedic mag, worthy of passing down generations.....!

I recall Spy vs Spy, one black on white.........

My favorite often was the parodies of Movies, which they did as well as the old National Lampoon Mags.......numerous Mad Mag writers/comedians, who wrote for one or the other, prior to going on to bigger and better things.......

Mad Mag first published in 1952
National Lampoon 1st issue 1970 (one could make an argument Mad Mag, may of influenced or spawned Natl Lampoon's mag, & Comedy Hour).....

First notable to write for both mags: Chevy Chase.....
.....NTM- "The National Lampoon Comedy Hour" on radio.....

Spy vs Spy was pretty cool, but the one that really got me was "the lighter side of" and scenes we'd like to see.

Tonight's lineup posted in the OP.

NOTE: No McCann, Gardner or Gregorius.

I swear just when I want to believe CC can turn his game around, I'm reminded by CC's serving up another HR; he hasn't and probably can't make the transition to an effective finesse SP, without His 95-96 fastball........

Today's HR ties CC, for his all time season highs, at 20 HR's in a season, both 03 and His Cy Young Yr 07........but the year is far from over.....altho' it looks like CC is....

CC will look like Warren Sapp's Little Brother, within the next year.....!

CC is just untrustworthy garbage. Tired of this act already.

Are we going hear after this game that 'he's very frustrated
and he's trying real hard'...........not good enough for
a PROFESSIONAL ballplayer on the decline!

Oh yeah, btw.........where are the right handed bat?
They need another day for adjustments?

P I T I F U L display.

Arod's second homer of the game making things interesting in the seventh. 5-3 Twins now with Tex on second after a double and nobody out. Pitching change for the Twins.

5-4 now after a sac fly. After being down 5-0 can't complain that they at least have a shot in the last two innings.

McCann strikes out with Ellsbury at second.

Holy fuck Arod hits his third homer of the game and it's 5-5.

There run shot by John Ryan. 8-5 New York.

Yep. I was one of the few in the world (lol) who thought there was a very fair chance CC could make the transition and adjustment to being an effective "finesse" pitcher and I was, and DID give him the first two months of the season to work out the kinks and find his "game" before I pulled the plug on him....then I took a look at his numbers since June and he actually showed some overall improvement over his past 8 starts...
He actually had an ERA below 4.00 without a real stinker (vs Philly) during that time and I WOULD cut him slack for ONE stinker since June over his last 8 starts....
But now he comes up with ANOTHER stinker tonight and he certainly can't afford lousy starts this frequently....he no longer has cache.

Here was my thread regarding CC .....and now we're back to square one.
Credit to those who said FROM THE BEGINNING he would never be an effective SP again and when the dust settles after this season and his final numbers are in, it probably looks safe to say definitively that he should no longer be expected or invited to be in the Yankee rotation.

Here was my recent thread on CC:

It could be simply an arm with far too many innings on it and a pitcher who just cannot transition to being more finesse than power. Others being able to do it has nothing to do with Sabathia. Obviously just serves up the long ball far too often.

Gigantic WIN.
Biggest win (imo) of the year until the NEXT "biggest win".
There will be others.... lol

Late inning comeback victory after trailing 5-1 vs a tough team at home and a closer having a great season.

GREAT WIN.....puts the brakes on starting the 10 game road trip 0-2, eliminates the chance of Minnesota sweeping the series while also giving the Yanks a chance to take the series.
No team gaining ground on the Yanks tonight - that's for dam sure!

GO YANKS!

Arod is of course the story of the night but good for John Ryan Murphy.

CC Sabathia once again fails to live up to even his own mediocre performance standards. Put me in the board minority but I still think the Yankees need another starter (see Warren)

Happy for Alex, and sad at the same time. What he could have been.

John Ryan Murphy is a good young back-up catcher

He does get his share of hits, has a little pop, and he's not a slouch with att/sb.
Had a minor league career .263 BA - .733 OPS, 29% att/sb.
Currently, in a small sample 192 ABs, has a career .260 BA, .643 OPS and a 30% success rate att/sb.
He needs ABs to tap into his power numbers which is primarily XBH "power".
