Rogers shouldn't even go to the park tomorrow. I have no idea why he's on this team. He has stunk his entire career

Rogers doesn't even deserve to wear a major league uniform. Cut him & bring up Severino.

My error, I responded to the wrong post, I meant it as a response to Tom (post #19)

I followed you Rick, no worries. This is the kind of shit that buys him playing time. 200....he doesn't break the Mendoza line.

Left in the 8th inning to return home Yankees looked solid. Upon getting home I found Betances pitching right before Gregorius made that nice olay. Watching the highlights on quick pitch this AM I'd have to say that they Yankees need to DFA Rogers for giving up all those hits, and kick Headley and Pirellas asses for that bonehead play. With Trout and Pujols out of the game Rogers performance was even more pathetic. the man is Sunoco 260 gas out there. Note to Costas and Smoltz, getting tired of hearing about that "short Porch" and the "cheap" home runs. Weaver is a major league pitcher and when pitching in Yankee Stadium should be able to make adjustments. Smoltz still hasn't gotten over '96 and '99 and Costas should flat out know better.

...glad someone else also brought this up because I think it's very often over-exaggerated. Yes, directly down the lines is short but the angle of the fence gradually makes it further away as it goes closer to CF...and the power alleys are still a long way.

...and the differences between old YS and new YS aren't much at all.

Game played to a nine inning completion grants 27 chances to produce so I hate hearing in Anaheim that would have been an out, reverse that one could say in Yankee Stadium that would have been a bomb. Fact of the matter is that the Angels lost a game that was pretty much muffed by "Gas Tank Rogers" Didn't hear Soscia complaining in '02 or '05 when his lefty hitters knocked a few out of the stadium. Each team has a ball park tailored for it's teams style and get 81 chances there. Sometimes shit just happens. Pujols 0-4 last night keep it going.

...yup, and no one seems to remember that both Maris and Mantle were aided in '61 by a YS with essentially the same dimensions...but Costas who's also a big Mantle fan won't dare bring that up.

...double standard.

...and just for reference and comparison, here's Angels' stadium dimensions vs YS dimensions;

Does Rogers have options?

I'm not expecting Drew to dramatically turn things around and I know he has already demonstrated to be a .160-ish hitter over the course of almost one full season, but, how about if his BA somehow starts creeping up towards the .225-.235 range and he continues to hit a HR here and there?

Don't get me wrong, I've already said after his first two months I'm ready to give one of the "kids" a chance to play 2b and make Drew the backup SS/2b.

The thing Drew has going for him is that you don't worry about his glove. Fair is fair the guy gets to everything out there. Since he clearly isn't going anywhere it would be nice to see him get on a little hot streak at the plate.

Agree 100%.

Also, there are plenty of other ballparks with smaller power alleys (LCF -RCF) and other ballparks have parts of their outfield dimensions which are hitter friendly.

The ball does travel well at Yankee Stadium but there seems to be a lot of other Stadiums with just as cozy overral outfield dimensions from pole to pole as Yankee Stadium.

My response is always the other team is allowed to hit the ball out to right also. Of course nobody bitches about short fly balls going over the monster at Fenway.
