Verlander has reduced his base on balls per 9 IP, (BB9) to a paltry 0.9 avg on the year. His career BB9 is 2.7- ntm- he's also reduced his Hits per 9 IP, (H9) to 4.8. Down from His lifetime avg of 7.9 H9...

Good to see Austin back from his undeserved suspension.

The guy had to stand up for himself especially when the incompetent umpires
refused to take any action to squelch Kelly’s intentional hit batsman!

Verlander needs a lesson in humility akin to the one he got in'12 when Sandoval lit him up like a pinball machine. He and his buddies Price and Scherzer got another lesson in the same subject when the Orioles swept the Tigers in '14. When the Yankees were predicted to go to the series Verlander opened up his mouth saying the Series goes through Houston. Yankee fans would hope Stanton steps up but thus far in 4 games against contenders he's managed to do nothing. Glad to see Austin back in the lineup, hope the Yankees can kick some butt this evening.

^^^Yeah, that whole incident with Boston was handled very poorly by the Umps.

...not sure what showed more incompetence, the Boston fiasco or the botched call a couple of nights ago when they claimed Stanton did not tag up and that DiDi didn't also score or that same play.

Been saying it since before the season began, this team is poorly constructed and its "home run or bust" philosophy and its propensity for striking out simply will not succeed vs good pitching.
The bashers must be willing to change their mindset/approach once they get in a 2 strike count.
