RHP - Michael Pineda, (7-3 3.74 ERA)

VS.

RHP - Jose Urena (1-2 4.44 ERA)

NOTE: Since Pineda started the season 5-0 he has gone 2-3 with an ERA of 5.40 in 5 starts.

Bad offence + bad pitching = well, you see it.

Tonight's lineup........

LF - Gardner
3B - Headley
C - McCann
DH - Rodriquez
1B - Jones
RF - Beltran
SS - Gregorius
2B - Drew
CF - Williams

Teixeira getting the night off.

Meridith Marokovichs just had a pre game comments & HOLY SHIT! that woman is getting huge. She's got to be 200+ easy.

Is that right.....270 BA by ARod leads this current lineup?

...just saw her...don't remember those sweater puppies being that huge.

Pineda with a no hitter through 5 but he's thrown 82 pitches, it'll be interesting to see what Girardi does if this continues. I mean he could have over 100 pitches by the end of the 6th inning.

my timing is impeccable, b4 it happens i'm saying no way 2 runs score on that, and dumazz kay says arod doesn't have speed he used to have????? henderson would not even have attempted to score on that one hop blazer, get rid of entire coaching staff

Its times like this that I miss baseball from years ago. Pineda was just taken out of the game after giving up his 1st hit in the 7th inning. I'm guessing it was because he reached 100 pitches BIG FUCKING DEAL!! I would think as a coach your first question would be, "Do I have anyone in that bullpen who could pitch just as well or better that what my starter just gave me?" and if your answer is a resounding no then leave your starter in. I mean hell there were 2 outs, at least let him finish the damn inning.

100 pitch count is a damn joke today.

ANOTHER head scratching decision made by Girardi. in a 2-1 game why wouldn't you have Teixeira pinch hitting for Jones? I mean you'd want Teixeira in there anyway for defense in a close game in the next inning. Makes absolutely no sense.

Watching this offense you'd think the Yankees were facing Sandy Koufax every game.

The Yankees had the lucky horseshoe up their butts this evening. Kudos to Pineda, pitched a hell of a game, but the offense sat on their collective cans again. Like Eovaldi Jones sucked against his former team why am I not surprised.

Jones did get robbed by the 1bman with 2nd and 3rd.

...and?...as yf5545 pointed out, he was 1-9 vs his old team... He's not a very good player.

?

Since when are backup part time 1bmen supposed to be very good players?

He made a good bid hitting a hard liner which the Marlins' 1bman made a great play on and saved at least a run and probably two since it was two out and the runners were on the move.

Garret Jones isn't, and hasn't been one of the Yanks' main "problems".... imo

Ex:
Bret Gardner has turned into a .255-ish (again) hitter seemingly overnight.

Gardner is what he is. He started tailing off even when Ellsbury was still in the lineup.

...he's a fringe player, he's making $5 Mil this year, and I would think that's grossly over paid for the production he has provided...he's also not only a 1Bman, he's also been used in the OF and he's not particularly good at either position. All things considered, the Yanx would have been better off bringing back Ichiro at less than 1/2 the money. Pretty much any warm body can play 1B in a pinch and the Yanx already have a few that can.

...sorry, but line drives that are caught are part of the game and still count as an out, just as bloopers and bleeders still count as a hit. The Yanx were already ahead anyway when he hit that ball and the assumed runs would (edit) NOT have mattered.

...I didn't say that he was...I simply said he "is not a very good player"... and that can be said about quite a few on the current roster.

Ex:

...Gardner is a career .265 hitter anyway so he's not far away from the norm...conversely, when he was hitting well over .300, that should not have been realistically considered sustainable.

Yep.
And I think, hope not, he'll also be hard pressed to steal those 40-50 bases we would all like to see if he continues to struggle reaching base. He's just not the flashy aggresive type who "constantly" attempts to steal bases.

Obviously, sooner than later the Yanks having too many low BA/OBP players in their regular lineup will drag the W-L record DOWN.

imo - A team can carry a couple of light hitters if they're getting compensated from the other areas of the lineup. Ellsbury, Gardy (.265-ish?) Arod, Tex, McCann, Beltran (If he wakes up) could be, could be enough to offset.
