Game Thread Yankees vs. Marlins Tuesday 8/21/18, 7:10 pm

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

Being t/2nd brst Team in MLB, Yanx should utterly destroy bad Teams like t/Marlins, O's, KC, TX & TB....
annihlate 'em with no mercy....

DL bug hit BIG time at a bad time, but is there's such a thing as a good time.
Can't wait 2C Judge retun. Hope Sanchez reconnects with t/Mojo he once had....hope so~!
You had to mention injuries

I once had an MGB that was more at home in the shop than on the road. Chapman is more at home in the buupen than on the mound. ^&^^&)&^&^)

Yankee relief must have purchased a shitload of horseshoes! Now Chapman leaves game with undisclosed
injury and Kahnle comes in to pitch. And Robertson not pitching is a mystery. Yankee pen does not look
so stacked.

Kahnle got the save in the 12th!. At one point he blew 7 in a row. Of, course the leads could have been insurmountable. Someone had to take a shaft. Sure like what Cleveland had done!

Even a die-hard Cubs fan would say: That's Raking ~!!~

Stanton tho' hot isn't as fuego rojo as Andujar, but still I'll give him a break.
Stanton has gone from Gian-K-arlo, to Gone-Carlo,.
His SO rate is down approx 5%, from 33.2% to 28.3%. His lifetime SO pctg/rate is 32.0%...
(Judge's SO rate is down to 36.8% from last yrs 38.3%)
Reggie's Lifetime SO pctg: 29.36%
Mantle's pctg: 21.1%
DiMaggio 5.4% SO rate
Yogi 5.5%

Yanx Offensive figures:
Strikeouts- 3rd worse in the AL, only TX and CHWsox have more

Yanx have 857 LOB, 3rd most (or worst) in t/AL, only TB and Tex have more. (***)
Yanx are worst in AL averaging approx: 6.91 LOB per game.

Runners LOB isn't complete without comparing the percentages of batters reaching base... Yanx of course amongst AL leaders in reaching base: but strand (***)

Only Bosox and Cleveland have a higher OBP%...
Yanx still 2nd in Runs Scored p/gm: 5.2...
1st in AL in BB's, 4th in Hits, 1st in HR's, 2nd in RBI's, ...

Yanx 4th best in beating the shift...

4th least SB's in AL at (50), only Oakland (28), Balt. (45), Minn (38) and Toronto (35) have less. AL Team Avg is 63

(leave a dime in the monkey's cup please)
Two nickels or 10 pennies.

any word on robertson...kay menitioned that he may be hurting and that is why we saw Tommy K instead of David

Sounds like D-Rob is day to day, BUT Tendonitis is often a long term problem. Maybe a matter of not revealing ones poker hand :nerd:

Shoulder): Robertson missed the last game due to right shoulder tenderness and it is uncertain if he will be available against the Marlins on Wednesday. (Updated August 22, 2018)

"Not concerned" I don't get it.
Shoulder stiffness and tendonitis are two different things...

Just Great....Lynn gives up five runs and we lose while Boston wins. With the O's coming up we have got to string their losses like the Blue Jays did.

Pretty damn sad when this team gets called out by Pedro Martinez for a lack of hustle with little desire to win. Also embarrassing that Tyler Austins dad tweeted that his son (Tyler) had been doing better with the Twins that Bird had with the Yankees.

Hate to say it, but I don't think we'll ever see the version of Bird we were hoping for...and unless he makes a drastic improvement over the next month we may see a new face at 1B next year.

...and here's what Tyler Austin said about his Dad's tweet;

“Pretty embarrassed about what my dad put on there,” Austin, whose father deleted both tweets, told The Star Tribune. “I didn’t know about it until somebody sent me a picture of it. I told him immediately to take it down. It’s embarrassing and should never happen.”

I did see Tyler Austins reply. I also remember an interview with TA who stated on camera that he realized what Bird meant to the Yankee Team. My four top Yankee First Basemen are Showron, Chambliss, Donnie Baseball, and Tino Martinez. I don't think Bird will fit that group. He (Bird) seemed pretty flip about his lack of contributions in the post game interview. Reminded me of Texeria with his "Bump in the Road" comment after the Yankees were swept by Toronto in Yankee Stadium in '15.

...what, no love for Gehrig?...j/k. I know we're both old farts but not old enough to have seen him play...sure woulda been nice though.

I view all of the great Yankees that played before I became a fan as the team gods. I'd have loved to see the teams of Ruth & Gehrig play. Ditto the great Yankee teams of the late Thirties and Early Forties. I still consider the '49 through '53 Yankees as the best. Five straight World Championships. I saw some late '50's through the early '60s Teams . On seeing Pedros comments about the current team Boone would probably come up with another "that will only make us stronger" If I owned the team and saw those comments I'd have Boner & the Coaching Staff on the carpet saying you'd best fix this or you''ll be looking for new jobs.

Looks like The Pink Hatters are going to win again 7-0 going into the 8th Inning.

Lynn was playing well until he gave up a couple of hits in the 6th inning. We had a possibility of getting out of that inning with minimal damage if Boone had replaced him with a relief pitcher. Even Lillie mentioned that in the game thread.

However, he kept Lynn in the game and gave up five runs.

I haven't said much about Boone this season, but our pitchers would certainly fare better with a smarter manager. At least Girardi knows the game from the aspect of the catcher and pitcher.

...never liked the way Cashman handled the Girardi deal, Torre either for that matter...also didn't care for the way he did Jeter a few years back...definitely didn't care for the hiring of Boone but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. But managing the Yanx with "Boone on training wheels" was not the way to go IMO.

^^^^ .....

I've often felt ex catchers make 4 Xlnt Mgrs.; for the very reason they see different perspectives in the entire game especially with pitching;... i.e. Torre, Girardi, the 2 Joes, Bochy, Yost, Sciosa et al. Then again some have not fared so well like Ausmus, Gibbons, Boome Sr.

Tho' many are tethered to the roster which the GM provides them. Ausmus was shit- period, regardless... maybe a debatable topic either way, I still prefer to see catchers as managers, & yep, there are always exceptions to any rule...

"Joes know Pitching". Boones still trying to figure out what a Mgr's role is....imho-
