Amazing, defend a shitty pitcher & defend an asshole. Doesn't say much for character does it.

^^^and rick, that's the problem I have with some who cannot understand why I refuse to cheer for ARod simply because he wears a Yankee uniform. I wonder how many of his supporters would still support him if he played for any other team instead of the Yanx?...not many, if any, I would guess.

...but some people's response would be "but he IS playing for the Yanx" and therefore I should pull for him...and therein lies the problem. I don't like the POS on pure principle and so why should I compromise my principles purely based on which team he plays for?...sorry, not gonna happen.

Fully understood Ron, I mean if he singles in the winning run, great. I'll be happy that the Yankees won but...if it were up to me the jerk would never wear a uniform again.

I've seen people cheer for bigger criminals. I'm not looking for a role model, just a guy who helps my team win. If he's a real criminal who killed, raped or beat somebody, different story. As for valuing what other ballplayers think about him? Who gives a shit. If you're liked by your teammates and make your team better, works for me here. Those same non-Yankee assholes constantly voted Jeter the most overrated in the league. Sure he was overrated by some Yanks fans but most overrated in the league? Tells you all you need to know.

Not judging anyone's stance here, I'm fine with what anyone thinks and if they feel that strongly - I just laugh at the common knucklehead who will boo him then high five as he's rounding the bases.

I would have so much more respect for the ownership if they did the right thing, even if it meant cutting a $61M check. Respect the hell out of the Angels and taking a moral stand. Anyone who cheers Aroid must be a dispicable human being.

Seeing flashbulbs go off when he hits #660 is going to disgust the hell out of me which is why I'm hoping it happens on the road where he'll get booed.

...that's partly what I was getting at. I mean after all the lies, law suits, and the circus of last year, how can people just look the other way purely because he plays for the Yanx?
...needless to say, I'm not as forgiving as some.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion on Arod and are justified in whatever that opinion is. He's helping the Yankees win so I'm not sure what else can be said and done.

...^^^ like you said, everyone is entitled to their opinion and for me, I don't care what he does, I will not cheer for him.

I just learned that I'm a despicable person for rooting for Arod to help the Yanks win. I'm all over the place on the moral board though; I've refused to watch the NFL for years now because it has always looked the other way with real criminals (rampant with wife abusers and sprinkled with rapists). Not sure how you support a league willing to do that. It sounds like a lot of you guys probably boycott the NFL as well.

..."a lot of you guys"?...who?...not me.

...one person made a reference to being a "despicable" person...no need to lump others in with that statement.

Didn't mean to lump you in there, I'll reserve judgement for a single person calling people out for not agreeing with his/her stance. My comment was just based on the high moral standards around here.

I agree, if there's no way you can root for Arod, it's got to be impossible to support a sport that knowing employs so many lower life forms. I can't, but I'm an enigma in this case because like baseball did through the 90s and early 2000s I'm willing to look the other way a bit for PED users.

...bern, the ironically funny thing about my situation is that unfortunately, I don't have a choice as to whether he plays or not...but even though I refuse to cheer for ARod, if he fails without my support, I win...if he does well without my support, I still win.
...that's the approach I have been forced into accepting. Yes, I have accepted it, but I don't have to like it. :bgrin:

But Bern, are you really rooting for A-Rod as an individual or are you actually rooting for the Yankees to win at any cost. Even if that means they're being assisted by an asshole from time to time.

They're one in the same if you ask me. Arod comes up with second and third in a big spot. What are you rooting for? A strikeout? Pumping your fist as he walks to the dugout?
