Interesting to hear Vascular-surgeon refer to Severino and Kevin Appier in the same breath. Appier was a local Hometown boy/prodigy, who played Little League against my brother seriously.
Appier was a flamethrower at age 12. Amazed me Ape made it to MLB, not cuz he didn't have tons of talent, he did. Ape had 1 helluva curveball at age 11. One his coaches encouraged. I Always expected Ape 2 blow his arm out at an early age, but he only got better, when he was already unhittable...
