Game Thread Yankees vs. Orioles 5/10/15 1:05PM

...so far, everything has pretty much gone the Yanx way but I don't believe they can realistically sustain their recent play for the entire year...we have Gardner and Ellsbury who are absolutely on fire right now, the starters are over-achieving, and the BP has been lights out...not to mention that the injury bug has not hurt us so far. (10-5 since Tanaka last pitched)

Well, imo, Warren and Whitley, on the whole, have NOT been over-achieving...and Beltran, who is expected to "hit" in the middle of the order didn't hit his 1st HR until his 100th AB , today.

Headley can do better and Gregorius actually isn't yet hitting his career BA.

Pirela, who has clearly demonstrated in his short "career" that he can hit...including last Sept, this ST and his last AAA season, was set back two months with a concussion.

If, when Ellsbury and/or Gardner cool off...other Yankee batters just might warm up...and let's remember, Ellsbury HAS already had a great MVP-type season in his career. He isn't a fluke. Still is (imo), one of the better all around players in the league.

Forget about the outerspace travel, So really, just how many teams in the Yankee division did you expect to play .600 ball?

How can I.....you're from Pluto man. .600 is a straw man and I don't get baited into you're myopic delusions.

What an AWESOME game from Pineda, 16 strikeouts in 7 innings.

Absolutely terrific and just what the doctor ordered today.

Big 3/4 from Orioles if we can get it.
A two game swing in head to head meeting in the very merry month of May.

Let's get what we can, when we can....and pile up those "Ws".

On Didi's double in the 7th, Drew cost the Yanks a run as he slowed up and let up just as he was approaching home plate and did not score the run in time as Didi was thrown out at 3rd for the 3rd out trying for a triple.

Here's a guy, Drew, who weighs more than his BA not quite hustling when he should.
Of course all players should always play hard and "hustle" on the basepaths...and especially players with .170 BAs.
Lol.....this annoyed me.

Memo to Drew- you better at least make sure you do the "little things".

Good win today and MF the Baltimore Orioles. Pineda right on the spot today, love the first place but remind myself that first place only counts on the day that the teams following have less games to play than your lead. Gotta love it to this point in time.

That was some performance by Pineda. Too bad the pitch count got high because he was flirting with records.

Per the MLB game ticker 16 SO and 0 walks was a Franchise Record. Even Butthead Brian Kenney complimented Pineda performance.

ah Drew was part of Cashman's plan....that grand strategy you blindly follow as gospel. Starting to see how you have a credibility issue? where did I put my pom-pom's...lol!

...can't stand Kenney...he's one of those saber stat geeks who only sees the game like a video game...for me, he ranks about even with Skip Bayless and Jim Rome.

I could be wrong (yeah like that could happen) but I believe David Cone also accomplished the feat.

Being that your questioning my "credibility" and say I'm a blind follower of Cashman, I think you should read my reply and do us both a favor, try and keep track of my whole response. I think that would be fair enough.
Here goes:
Yes, Drew was/is part of Cashman's plan and I did agree with his line of thinking with Drew having a full ST and beginning the season from the start, there was a fair chance Drew could at least have decent numbers while playing solid defense at 2b and occasionally SS. Possibly hitting in .230 - .245 with double digit HRs.....

.....now here's the finale:
I have also recognized he could eventually become the backup 2b/SS with Pirela and/or eventually Refsnyder taking over at 2b....
and:
The season isn't quite over yet (lol) and whether we like it or not, there's still time for Drew to improve on his rate of production.

That's all, I'm done with this little exchange of thoughts and opinions.

...promise?

Well, I think I've provided a good response to him presuming the final results are in on Cashman's "Drew plan" and also calling me a "blind follower".
Yes, I think I'm done with him on this matter.

Thanks for asking.

Nah, let's not get repetitive in this thread on Cashman's "Drew plan".
We'll pick it up maybe on a later date if the subject pops up again.

If it doesn't I'm sure you'll find a way to bring it up.

Lets all just try to stay on topic & keep things as current as possible.

...love it when something goes completely over someone's head.

I could be wrong (yeah like that could happen) but I believe David Cone also accomplished the feat.

Guidry struck out 18 in '78, Cone and Wells struck out 16 in '97, however they did walk some hitters. Pineda is first with 16 SO and 0 walks. Pretty damn good when you're in that company.

...not to mention that Pineda did it in only 7 innings...the others got to pitch 2 more innings.

Holy shit, that's only the 2nd time all year I've been wrong. Thanks Michael.

Ah. Well we're glad you're done. If not beside credibility you'll be a liar too.
