German vs. Hamels

Lineups to follow...

I guess tonight’s game is a showcase for a Cole Hamels’ trade. He has a 2-4 record; won
games April 3 and May 11 both on the road. He lost his 4 games at home. Let’s hope German’s
3 pitches are all working. Would be interested to see how Austin hits against lefty Hamels.

I don't know how the rest of you feel but I'm perfectly content seeing Tyler Austin as the everyday 1st baseman. I like Bird but IMO he's missed too many games. Availability is a key signature that Austin has possessed. And yeah to keep Cashman from doing something stupid the Yankees need to rake Hammels over the coals. If the Rangers wish a salary send him back to Philly.

^^^^^good point. Bird’s track record is questionable. Austin’s value just on depth alone gives him a solid
place on this team. If Cashman toys with the idea of trading him, he’d be a fool.

I think when Bird does return Austin should be platooned at 1B with Bird...Austin eats up LHed pitching but struggles against righties...also, giving Bird a day off when LHers pitch might help to bring him along more slowly...I have my doubts about Bird being what he once was and if that ends up being the case, the Yanx can consider giving the full time job to Austin.

Top 5 teams starting pitching staffs: 1. Astros 2. Indians 3. Nationals 4. D-Backs

5. tied. Red Sox, Yankees, Dodgers

Teams starting pitching moving up are: Phillies, Braves, Brewers, Twins, tied Cubs, Mets.

...Astros pitching is just plain nasty. And for the Yanx to have a legit chance against them in the PS, the Yanx need to add another arm of their own to the FRONT end of their rotation. (another ace or a solid #2)

Hicks -CF
Judge -RF
Stanton -LF
Sanchez -C
Gregorious -SS
Austin -DH
Andujar -3B
Walker -1B
Torres -2B

Agreed. I’m just afraid Cashman will unload necessary youthful depth. I would not mind if
he shopped Drury, Walker, Lind, Wade. In this business, we shall see.

Totally absurd: Joey Bats batting 5th and playing left for New York National. Per Cliff Floyd "its a good move". Bautistas name in lineups will instill fear in opposing pitchers. If Bautistas dick is as short his career is at this point he's in big trouble. Also shown was copy from a newspaper article in which Cole Hammels commented that the Yankees were a tremendous team. If memory serves me correct Hammels got away from Philly when they were losing, went to Texas because they were winning. The Hammels/Darvish duo did not work well, Sorry Cole no Yankees for you, I don't think the Phillies want you either.

Another rushed home grown pitcher who is not ready for a Prime Time. I take that
back. He came in trade for Giancarlo from Miami. What was I thinking that the Yankees
brought up a home grown pitcher! Ugh! :smiley-f5:

Germán- Wtf, 3 wild pitches, 1 batter hit 2 more base on balls, 2 hits 1 for a HR & 5 Earned Runs.... HFC, holy flying cheetos or cows... 56 pitches only 32 for strikes.

Finally, Torres Strikes w/another downtown Bomb!!!

I like to see a guy for a couple of seasons, but yeah I think the Yankees have a damn good unit out there at 2nd base,

As the Bostons are on the verge of beating Tampa, we find the Yankees on the wrong end of the scorecard. 1 run and 1 hit through 6 with Hammels looking like Cy Young and the Yankee hitters looking like windmills. This is a series the Yankees should have swept. Things can change but the outlook for this game is bleak.

Not going to get a stud pitcher for those guys. For that your talking the Frazier, andujar, Austin and Sheffield types

Boone needs to save his ejections to go out there crazy for when judge gets strikes called at his ankles and shoulders. He needs work on his “getting his money’s worth “ also. That was pretty weak. Should have at least blasted the ump until the crew chief had to come in and rescue him.

Shreve, the sun shines on every dogs ass sometime. Tonight was your night, that could have got really ugly out there.
