Arod homers for the 5-4 lead and it looks like it's down to the Betances and Miller formula to close it out.
 
Betances serves up a game tying homer to Betts with two outs in the seventh.

Murphy pinch hit for Bird and K'd!

First & Third and one out...................they cannot get it done!
An ugly trend with this team.
 
I don't understand that move by Girardi at all. He was hitting against a lefty all night long going 1-1 with two walks. Why now?
 
Some of the best moves are the ones you don't make. Also, Didi has left a village on the bases tonight.

This is flat out very difficult to watch. Great job Gardner. Let us not also forget Ellsbury getting picked off from first with nobody out.
 
Nice to see Ellsbury as first out, Gardner as last. If you looked up the word choke in the dictionary you'd see a 2015 Yankees Team Picture>

Despite Gregorius stranding eight runners tonight Yankees may be able to back in, Anaheim lost, Houston losing.

This bad dream continues. The Yankees are now 28-28 in their last 56 games.
 
They are without question the worst & weakest team going into the post season.
 
I hope they don't even get the wildcard. I am now rooting for the Mets. At least that team has a heartbeat. This team is just an embarrassment.
 
It's very difficult to feel good about a playoff appearance with the current state of affairs. You will hear plenty of the old cliche about how anything can happen.

The Mets have more concern than they're saying. Harvey limited, Matz gone again. The Young Guns will have to decide their fate, IMO.

Even those who don't look tired, may have rubber arms, or injury like a ticking time bomb......anything can happen...

Since their 8 game win streak beginning on Sept. 7th, they've since gone 6-8, with a 4 game win streak.....why...?

The scare of a red hot Cespedes, is cause for concern, tho' I'm hearing He will be ok. Just gotta' play with pain at times......?
 
It would be disingenuous to not mention the obvious fact that Girardi also managed a terrible game last night. It doesn't excuse the amount of guys left on base in a game they should've had 15 runs but some of the moves were way overboard. You simply cannot manage this current bullpen and roster like it's the seventh game of the world series. I didn't agree with Betances coming in with two outs in the seventh and nobody on. I wish they would stop doing that. Also, having a guy who was hitting well Refsynder trying to bunt with a struggling with RISP Didi hitting behind him made little to no sense. In the end it was a wasted at bat.

And pinch hitting for Bird because a lefty came in when he was hitting against a lefty all night (1-1 with 2 BB) also made no sense.
 
In the bottom of the 8th the Yankees walked four times and didn't score a run. You have to try really hard to do that.
 
...gotta believe Joe was just playing the odds with the lefty/righty thing...and an anomalous 1 for 1 for Bird in one game should not overshadow the fact that he's simply been terrible vs LHers all year.
...same shit with this team...we can sit here and point fingers at coaches or players but if you look at the big picture it becomes evident that the Yanx' recent poor play has been a group effort

...just read it...and yeah, it pretty much sums up the way many of us feel.

...next year doesn't look much better.

It only gets better moving forward if they find a way to move some of these players out of here. We're stuck with the obvious but you have to try elsewhere. Even if you have to eat some salary. Maybe somebody says yes to a deal if you put Gardner and Nova together.
