Game Thread Yankees vs. Tigers Tuesday 8/22/17, 7:10 pm

I just got the paper and read that Bird is coming back does anyone have details???

The line is on the Yankees today but the fly in the ointment is found reading the game preview. Our old buddy Tanaka in four starts against Detroit is 0-3 with a 4.56 ERA. Given the Tigers current status these are games the Yankees should win. Last series though this offense was pretty much shut down by mediocre pitching. We're gonna hope that changes.

I've been saying this for a couple weeks now. At rehab starts he's 8-17 with a couple of homers and looking real good. Girardi has already said as soon as he's back with the yanks he will immediately be the starting first baseman. I said sometime during this series he'll be back and tonights as good as any to get back here.

Saw an internet copy of the Ney York Daily News containing an article on Bird that was as clear as mud. Given that he is in rehab, it would be nice to see him back when that Yankeesstart their home stand Friday Night.

Oh good. Judge batting clean up. What can possibly go wrong there? For Christ's sake can someone steal Girardi's binder and add a few pages about dropping a hitter that's hitting below .200 please!!!!!

Saw a couple of proposed lineups on River Avenue Blues moving Judge from third to fifth or seventh depending on when Castro and Bird get back.

Almost Game Time and I am getting ready to cook a Pizza.

...I agree, until he gets his act together, Judge should be dropped to 5th and let DiDi bat 4th...if/when Bird comes back he should maybe take over the cleanup spot until Judge hopefully comes out of his funk.

...speaking of Judge, not sure if the rest of you have noticed but earlier in the year when Judge was doing well he was taking the pitches on the outer half of the plate to RF...he's now trying to pull those same pitches...and it shows.

that stinkin HR derby, went to his head, now tryin to pull everything , who knows... lets hope all ends well!

Yankees offense on it this evening. Long Ball, small ball combinations. need to kick some Motown butt this evening and see Tanaka reverse his lack of success against the Tigers.

...encouraged by Judge's willingness to let bad pitches go by...3 straight BBs so far.

Tyler Austin, when he tagged Billy Bas Ass Sale for that 3 run bomb he became a friend for life. Got some nice clutch hits for this team last season. Glad to see him back and wish for the best going forward.

...I like the fact that when he comes to bat he actually is looking to go the opposite field.

Been saying this^^^^^before he participated in HR Derby. I knew it would take its toll on the kid. Shoulda, woulda,
coulda...................done is done.

Did not agree with the decision to PH Ellsbury for Judge, who was on the way to a zero strike out game.

...^^^ they were up by 10 runs so there was no real need to leave Judge in...plus, taking him out guaranteed the streak would end and Judge would no longer be hounded by the news hacks who kept asking him the same inane questions about the strike out streak.
...plus, Ellsbury needed the playing time...now Judge can move on.
