Re: Yankees Win! Yankees Win! Yankees Win!

Who's your MVP now?Jeter > Ortiz.

Re: Yankees Win! Yankees Win! Yankees Win!

Ortiz.Just accept the fact he's going to win unless he goes into a massive slump or suffers an injury

Re: Yankees Win! Yankees Win! Yankees Win!

Yeah, Ortiz wins it still. Red Sox have to get the wildcard now. It seems unlikely since the White Sox and the Twins are both winning as of late. In the offseason, they need help at the bottom of their rotation, a few lefties in the bullpen, they don't even have one! And maybe a shortstop, Gonzalez and Cora aren't doing that bad.

He's helped his team win more, plain and simple. How can a player be MVP if he can't even get his team to the playoffs? (It's not like his team is KC or the Marlins either)Oh, and since Street is out for the A's, and the Tigers falling apart at the seams, the playoff teams will be:White Sox, Yankees, Angels, and Twins. I'd like to pick the Twins to win it their division, but with 2 pitchers injured, I think the White Sox will surge past them.

NOOOOOOO!!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:I still hope the White Sox miss out. Let's GO TIGERS!!

Re: Yankees Win! Yankees Win! Yankees Win!

Ortiz won't win it for the simple reason that he is a DH.Yes he has made some big hits, yes he always comes through, but you're talking about a good hitter who does not field versus a good hiter who is also a good fielder.Jeter > Ortiz

Any of you guys catch Around the Horn today? Bill Plaschke (SP?) is my hero. He said that the Sox have no room to use the "Yankees spend too much" excuse because the Sox are cheap. They have the most expensive tickets in baseball, and they sell out every game, and they are in a big market.Amen Bill. And thank you.

[/quote]Apperantly you haven't heard the old saying:"In Chicago, you either like the Cubs or you like the White Sox. You can't like them both. You like one, and you hate the other ones guts."The Cubs season is lost, so I might as well root for the White Sox and Cardinals to miss the playoffs, b/c come October, "I sure as heck ain't rooting for the White Sox or Cardinals."

Nice creative accounting. If Fenway was full of their EMC club, it would make up for it.

Re: Yankees Win! Yankees Win! Yankees Win!

Ortiz. 1 series isn't going to just skyrocket Jeter ahead of him.BTW. LIRIANO IS COMING BACK EARLY SEPTEMBER (that's what it looks like anyway)!!!!!!!! Who is our other pitcher that is injured? Santana, Radke, Silva are all fine. We haven't had a for sure #5 all year, we've mixed Baker, Boof, Lohse in there, but none of them are injured (Lohse isn't on the team). Garza is healthy (and looked good his last start, aside from the first part of it).Santana, Liriano, Radke, Silva, Garza. Dayum that sounds fucking HAWT!

Re: Yankees Win! Yankees Win! Yankees Win!

This was a pretty sweet series. I saw 4 of the 5 games. IMO, the 4th one was the best. I hate the fact that Gm. 2 wasn't televised on national TV. Anyway, I think this seals up the AL East for NYY. The Red Sox can never bounce back now.

They sweep us that series, then only 3 1/2 games to pick up in quite a bit of time.

Re: Yankees Win! Yankees Win! Yankees Win!

u never count out a team with papi on it. hes simply too good. But i think the Red Sox dont have the pitching. Schilling is good. Beckett? extraordinarily inconsistent. Wells? psssh. who else do they have? Lester - too young and raw. who else they got? the yankees have 2 consistent SPs (wang and musina), one who is inconsistent but is getting better and slowly starting to dominate again. Wright is always good for 6 innings of 2 or 3 run ball. We still have the advantage in the bullpen with rivera/farnsworth/proctor/villone VS papelboner and no one else. They have th best 2 hitters (manny and papi) but our offense as a whole destroys theres. 49 runs in 5 games. thats 9.9 a game. B-eautiful.And the stadium thing? the Red Sox play in a huge market, with more bandwagon fans than the yankees and the most marketable player in baseball (ortiz). Brian Cashman recently announced that the Yankees lost money this year - does that stop Stinbrenner? nope. Compared to John Henry, who wouldnt pony up an extra 10 mil to keep Bostons GOLDEN CHILD Johnny Damon in town?
