Yanks Debating on Offering Grandy Qualifying Offer

I think they have to take a chance, because he'll get some decent offers IMO, with guys like Cano and Choo asking for the sky Grandy is an affordable, middle of the order bat, and they need those picks moving forward, he may want to remain a Yankee but must know teams will be in the mix for him, I think he passes on the Yankees qualifier, tough decision though, I was one who wanted him to be retained but have now changed my position, let him walk, they only have so much money to spend and I want them to spend as much as possible on pitching, pitching and more pitching, give me one big impact bat and the rest on arms and role players.

Just not sure where the pitching comes from. Yankees need a bunch of it. Guess that guy from Japan and Garza??

As far as the bats, Cano (dear God hopefully for 7 years or less) and i would be happy adding Ellsbury. That would allow a spin off trade of one of the outfielders, probably gardner to try to fill another hole or aquire some prospects.

I know there is some talk of McCann (i think he is overvalued) and Beltran ( stay away from more old guys)..but i think Jacoby brings the best skill set and shoud get a boost in YS alla Damon. Injury prone i know, but if impact you want its prob him or Choo, and ill take Jacoby.

Is giving Grandy 14M really going to mess up your plans? From afar, it looks like keeping the talent you have and adding to it should be the MO.

And again, I don't follow them everyday, but I'd imagine that Granderson is much, much more valuable around the league than Hughes is, right?

I couldn't agree more... I hope to God that he isn't offered it for that exact reason.... what if he accepts it..

...1. Granderson does not have enough "talent" to warrant $14 Mil

...2. Trying to compare Hughes vs Granderson is like comparing apples and oranges ...and Hughes does not even belong in the conversation.

I am on the fence about offering Grandy the qualifying offer or not. He seems to really like NY and might take it and try to have a full complete year and do better on the open market next season. If we don't offer it then they will have to sign somebody or get creative with a trade. Again I am just not sure what is best right now. I guess we will know Monday.
