Not what to do with a 2-0 first inning lead.
Montgomery is garbage. Team is regressing to the mean. Cashman better bring Castillo here because a hitter isn’t gonna get it done. Doesn’t help that Monty got fucked by the umpire with the first batter TWICE. Had to throw 6 extra pitches because umpires don’t know a strike zone. Start dining these umps a few hundred for each missed call and watch how quickly the strike zone starts becoming normal/good again.
Funniest part is everyone was saying “Yanks just don’t give him run support.” That may be true, but any time they do, this is the shit he follows it up with. Fuck this team is terrible and terribly lucky they had the hot start they did. If they played like the team we know they truly are, they’d be battling with the rest of the AL East for a playoff spot.
You give up the farm for a guy like Castillo who is young and can be a REAL ace (Cole isn’t a real ace…he’s a number 1 yes, but he’s not an ace) that you can build around. You don’t trade away the farm for Soto. Pitching wins championships, hitters win regular season games.
As good as we were in the first half of the season with base running they’ve been equally as bad now. This team is literally the epitome of what happens when you take your foot off the gas pedal and start coasting. They’ll be bounced in the first round of the playoffs unless major moves are made. Lazy in the field, lazy in the batters box, lazy on the mound, lazy on the basepaths and most of all lazy ass managing in the dugout.
Monty complaining when he got taken out. Hey Monty, 70 something slop pitches in 2.3 innings, you’ve already given up 5 runs and your fielders are falling asleep with your slow pitching pace. Another words STFU and get off the field
Gleyber sucks as a cleanup hitter. All he wants to do is swing for the fences. He also ran outta the way on a clear hit and run which led to Rizzo being thrown out. Incompetent coaching leads to incompetent players.

“It’s not [just] about getting a hit in that situation,” Boone said of why he went with Gallo over the slap-hitting Kiner-Falefa. “The other component is forcing their hand to at least get their closer in there for a four-out situation.”
