I had no clue The Georgia Dome is slated for demolition in Mar. 017; giving way for the new Merc-Benz Stadium. Both the GA Dome and the Trop are "stayed bridge supported" in design.
The GA Dome opened 2 yrs after the Trop, and will be replaced by the Merc-Benz stadium, supposedly in 017, but may be delayed until 018?
Both stadiums have had problems beset by weather, yet why can't Fla build a new state of the art/decent- Tampa/St. Pete stadium, nearer to its masses, when GA. taxpayers are building a newer/better stadium.....? Tho' the existing GA Dome is a great looking venue, supposedly plagued by some design issues??? We all know the Trop isn't a good looking venue, and has been also plagued with issues that are a result of its design/ and overall poor planning; as it relates with incremental weather probs...and comfort for fans, especially a stadium with proper environmental control systems. NTM- it was one helluva horrid Hockey Stadium, biggest hockey stadium in all NHL, until the Panther's could find a better suited home...
With Seattle, Montreal, unable to sale more than 5K tickets, during week day games in the mid 80's; fans could sit damn near anywhere during that era, making for a great seat for a game, with few fans in attendance. Personally, it doesn't matter to me, if there are 100 fans or 100,000 during a game. Sure the fans make for a loud, festive atmosphere, but they don't effect the outcome of games
