Oh happy Day!!!
I wonder if that one couple is going to go through with their plans to get divorced. They threatened to if/when it was legalized.so...
My marriage is fine. Anyone else's break all of a sudden?
Westboro gently weeps.
If those freaks were against anything I'd be for it.
Excellent development.
With this and the Court's decision on Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs v. Inclusive Communities Project (an extremely under-reported case amid the hoopla around the same sex marriage and ACA cases), this has been one of the most positive and significant weeks in US civil rights history.
What's that, where they force low income housing on richie rich neighborhoods?
I'm living in Walla Wall, a huge seventh-day Adventist population, and yesterday I got to speak to a local pastor about the ruling. He is a younger guy, about 35, so perhaps that plays a role in his personal view, but he didn't care about the ruling. He said his church wouldn't perform the marriages, but that he would be fine if they did. He then said "being gay is so far down the list of things that matter".A girl I knew in high school posted some bullshit article on facebook from a Christian website. Essentially the message was "they'll get theirs."
I seriously can't stand some of these people. If you're going to be a Christian, GREAT, be a fucking Christian. But A) don't try to make the US into a theocracy and quit pretending like you follow the letter of the law in the Bible because it specifically says not to judge others, or they shall be judged. That's all these assholes are doing.

I was surprised, but he seemed very tolerant. I think we often lump groups together based on their most vocal components. So the huckabees of the nation end up defining what religious people believe when that's just a vocal sliver. Even of those who don't think gays should be able to marry, most of them don't care that much, and aren't going to protest or scream about the change. But calm doesn't make news.
