No reason for anyone to be cruel to an animal. I'd love to see the punks that did this have their face spray painted pink.

This isnt cruel? Might want to hit up the hard drive in your head for past incidents before you post.

Fowl play: Ducks cited for shooting at ducks (and geese)

Three Oregon men's basketball players were cited Monday night in Eugene's Alton Baker Park for shooting BB guns at ducks and geese in the park's pond.

Officers responded to a report of men shooting guns in the park at 11:08 p.m. and arrived to witness freshman forward Josh Crittle fire about 20 shots toward the pond with a BB gun, said Jenna LaBounty, a spokeswoman with the Eugene Police Department.

Crittle was cited along with fellow freshmen Michael Dunigan and Teondre Williams on an accusation of violating park rules, which carries a base fine of $155.

LaBounty said that when the officers approached, Dunigan tossed his weapon into the water, where officers found it. Williams' weapon was also located by the six officers who responded.

Crittle, Dunigan and Williams were handcuffed, cited and released within 30 minutes late Monday.

LaBounty said it did not appear any birds were injured in the shooting.

The players are scheduled to appear April 14 in Eugene Municipal Court to face the charges, which are unclassified misdemeanors.

"This incident is a very serious matter," Oregon coach Ernie Kent said in a news release Tuesday afternoon. "Although these three young men realize that it was a foolish mistake on their part, there are still consequences that they will have to face."

while that is saddening and disgusting that someone would abuse a helpless animal like that.. I still wouldnt lump Beaver fans together in this.. definitely a (or some) jackasses did this.. but I wouldnt venture to guess that much of a percentage of Beaver fans would condone this.

Choking a women isnt good either.

A University of Oregon football player was arrested on assault charges Monday evening, although the district attorney is not going to pursue charges against him.

Sgt. Tom Borchers says officers arrested Terrance Montgomery at a Springfield apartment after reports of a domestic dispute.

A police dispatch log shows a woman called police at 5:20 p.m. Monday saying she was in a physical dispute with a man who was choking her.

Police arrested Montgomery on suspicion of assault and brought him to the Lane County Jail, where he spent the night.

Tuesday morning investigators from the district attorney's office reviewed the case and determined there was not enough evidence to pursue any charges, according to Chief Deputy District Attorney Patty Perlow.

"There was insufficient evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt," Perlow said.

Borchers would not elaborate on what officers found when they arrived at the apartment, and a police report was not immediately available. He said police typically refer cases like this to the district attorney the next day, and it is common for prosecutors to not pursue any charges.

Montgomery spent the night in jail and was still in custody Tuesday afternoon. A spokesman in the jail records department said Montgomery was set to be released sometime during the afternoon once his paperwork was processed.

Montgomery is a junior defensive tackle for the Ducks.

UO athletic department spokesman Dave Williford said staff and coaches are still sorting out the details of the incident. He could not say if any action will be taken by the team or if it could affect possible playing time in the Civil War.

Montgomery did not play in Oregon’s last game versus Arizona but did see action in the game before that at home versus Arizona State.

He transferred to the Ducks this season from junior college Reedly, according to his biography page on goducks.com. His bio says he is married with a child and served in the Army before going to college.

So, are we going to have a pissing contest between beaver fans and duck fans?

Both sides have done incredibly stupid things. The act described in the OP is a despicable act and I hope whoever did it gets what they deserve (whatever that is). But it does not, as other stupid acts by UO students and OSU students, reflect the rest of the people at those universities.

This "fan" who did this lost his or her right to call themselves a fan. When you start harming animals (or other people) to show sports allegiances, you show you aren't mature enough to have any.

How is any of this even remotely relevant?

If Soda thinks a story someone hurting a Duck is relevant and worth posting, then a story about Duck hoop players shooting ducks and a Duck football player hurting a women is too. :devilwink:

I found it funny too. That OSU fan must have been drinking. He probably went back to his dorm and threw some chairs around.

well, that original story about a duck being painted, is pretty awful. The duct taped feet is more upsetting to me than the spray paint.

So the moral of the thread is, some Beaver fans are dipshits and some Duck fans are dipshits..........what else is new?

Lots of fucked up people out there. It's depressing.
