I wish I was a linguist.

No, it pretty much sucks. Also linguist != being good at learning languages. I am a linguist and I am terrible at learning languages.

Me? The Netherlands

edit: why? Because Dutch is an adorable little language and I am attracted to and have lived in very internationally diverse cities. Plus, Haarlem is like the prettiest place that still has a culture I can connect with.

Also, I think there is a very interesting debate going on in the Netherlands right now between the liberties being granted and the conservative movement that resents them, which mainly consists of Muslim immigrants. The mainstream Dutch are pushing back against the Muslim population, and extremist Muslims have retaliated. The Dutch aren't exactly known for their polite social skills, and the Muslim population is taking offense. True, this push and pull is going on in all sorts of other countries, but I think the Netherlands is close to the edge of an innovative place, and I'm interested to see where their explorations into morality will lead and how that will be affected by their overall national philosophy towards immigration, as well as how the conservative mentality of many of the immigrants they so accept will be a factor in all of this.

I mean, uh, WHORES AND WEED

Croatia. Maybe in Split or Dubrovnik. Beautiful coastline, cheap, hot women, few American tourists, easy train ride to the rest of Europe.

England would probably be my first choice if I had to take into account family, though.

I've never been to NZ, but every Kiwi I've met has been pretty cool, and it looked fantastic in LOR. So yeah, I could settle for that too.

It seems we have some spanish loving commies! :devilwink:

Good choices.

I love Croatia...

And England...

And New Zealand...

All very true. And good weather and dynamic soccer.
They only like sexy people there -- We should move, Minty.

So actually I know why I picked New Zealand.

1. No one else really talks about visiting it.

2. I love Flight of the Conchords

It has the added benefit of being the closest place to Oregon I've ever visited. I love NZ.

That being said, I think I'd move to Australia.

the climate is the closest as well, or is that what you meant?

That's what I meant. I can remember driving from Auckland to Wellington and thinking I had flown 7,000 miles to basically visit home.

Hmm, honestly, I find the New Zealand and Australia climate to be completely different. I guess that's because I was in a hotter area of Australia and a Southern (more cool) area in NZ.

Don't get all the NZ love here!?

Maybe because of this:
Taxation in New Zealand is lighter than in other OECD countries. New Zealand is one of the most free market capitalist economies according to economic freedom indices.

Easy choice for me Switzerland

Switzerland they give you guns

Is this your reasoning too Shape? I'm no expert but Switzerland sounds like a boring place...but I have no knowledge of it what so ever.

A place that always has sound interesting to me has been Australia. I'm debating whether or not to study abroad there actually.

No. Not a gun guy at all. I do have a shotgun though.

Switzerland is hardly boring. What gave you that impression?

Switzerland is freaking awesome!

A greek island:

Or australia.

Greek Islands are vastly over rated. Perhaps if all the tourists and greeks were removed first.

For me either New Zealand (Far from everyone, economic and social freedom high, nice environment, gorgeous).
or Canada, specifically British Columbia somewhere. I would do either of these moves yesterday if I had the resources to do so. I've been wanting to move for at least 10 years now.

I lived in Hawaii 6 years and Vegas 4. I like tourists.

Norway, in high school we got a foreign exchange student from Norway. She was so beautiful that all the normal girls in my school looked just alright after she got there. She told me that in her home school she was average looking.........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm just not familiar with Switzerland. What are some attractions there? What language do they speak (Swedish isn't a language is it?)?
