"Youngest team in the league"

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

Assistant coaches are part of the team. They give the rest of the team their presence and help the players in a variety of ways. You keep reaching and reaching but unfortunately for you, nothing is there. It's fine that you have a different point of view but you no longer make sense when disputing others'.

OK. So if assistant coaches are part of the team, are you using their average ages when you claim that the Blazers are the youngest team in the NBA?

You guys can do whatever you want.

Great. Thanks for the clarification and your blessing to continue doing what we've been doing. I know I'll sleep better tonight.

I'm just telling you that it makes you look like homers, redefining terms and bending over backwards to call them something they're not.

Yeah, heaven forbid a team's fan base should look like homers. Next thing you know we'll be on our feet at the games cheering for the home team. How embarrassing.

Stretch... stretch... stretch... snap!

Yes.

And as a fan of the youngest team in the NBA, I approve.

he he.

I ask you how you want to define "team" and when I point out that the definition is inferior you say it's MY logic breaking?

Hm. OK.

Ed O.

lol... agreed. This is pretty funny... mixum's rants doesn't annoy but apparently calling us the youngest team in the league does.

Who's annoyed?

Are you talking about me? I'm not in the least bit annoyed.

Outside of one or two malcontents and one or two fans of other teams, the rest of the posters here (myself included) are Blazer homers. Heck, I'm proud to be labeled a Blazer homer; that's why I post (too much) on a Blazer-centric forum.

Nice. Let's recap your little rhetorical mechanism here:

You: You think people will do what you want?
Me: People can do whatever they want.
You: It's so nice of you to not make people do what you want.

There's no reason to stretch things, though. We don't need to claim that we have won two NBA championships, or that Sabonis is in the HoF or that we're the youngest team in the NBA. The Walton-era teams were great, Sabonis was one of the best big men ever, and our team's accomplishments are remarkable... without having to redefine terms or stretch the truth.

Would you label me a malcontent, then, or a fan of another team?

I'm curious.

I've considered myself a fan of the team for 20 years and I'm not a homer.

You're a moderator. You don't count. ;)

Anyhoo, I can't wait to actually get a TV game tonight and be able to watch the youngest rotation in the league play ball.

But, since no one is making any of those other claims, they are all strawman arguments.

The basis for this thread is you don't like people referring to the Blazers as the youngest team in the league because the statement is inaccurate by your preferred definition. Seems like a rather arrogant stance to me, but whatever. It's really not a big deal. The people who have been calling them the youngest team in the league will probably go right on doing so. Most other people will continue to not care.
