Hey all!

I've been following this site so long I don't remember when I started. Finally joined last December. Maybe January. Slept since then so my memory banks have been erased! I've been a die hard Blazers fan since 1978 when I moved here. Even through the Blazers' dark times I'd often be the only one at social or family or work functions that was glued to a Blazers game. I'm a "jock." Damn. Ok, WAS a jock. But YOU GUYS and your knowledge never cease to amaze me. Seriously.

Just curious what your background is in relation to basketball/NBA/Blazers.

Fell in love with Basketball at 4 years old, played organized ball in middle school, highschool and up in alberta CA until my early 20’s. Been watching the Blazers as long as I can remember. I used to draw up plays in middle school too. I played PG because I stopped growing at 5’10, was a good scorer, an ok passer and I loved playing defense. Overall Ive always enjoyed the strategy of the game. Film Study, tendencies, all that.

Id say my biggest weaknesses are Im not really into Stats much or the CBA nearly as well as many other posters here. I think before I blew out both knees I could hold my own against most guys, though Ive definitely played a couple dudes that were way, way better than me.

I host True Blazer Fan on YouTube, you should check it out. Played college ball, couldve possibly played D2 but I choose to stay in Vancouver. Been a huge Portland fan since I was about 10 years old.

his tbf channel is probably the best Local Blazer content we get. I'd recommend people check it out too. Though I think there are a few radio guys that do good work too.

Unfortunately, I wasn't alive yet to see the Blazers win it in '77. But, I have been a Blazers fan since I can remember. I was born in Texas and my dad would have the spurs games on. I would always go for the Blazers when they played and my dad would say your going for the wrong team. Nope.

Moved to Portland in the early nineties. Watched every Blazer game I could since. Grew up playing streetball at the local courts here in Portland. Played in highschool till my knee went out. Coached high school level basketball. I write articles for Blazersland.com and am a VIP here in the forum.

And to answer your question, I'm 24 years old and became a blazers fan in 2014, before that I just watched Mavericks games because I was a huge Nowitzki fan, then I saw the playoffs series between Portland and Houston and I Fall in love with the Blazers, especially when Lillard hit THE SHOT, I'll never forget the moment. I miss this Team from 2013-2014 Season

Man you're more negative than a lot of us and you didnt even have to go through the Finals losses, the JailBlazers, or the Roy/Oden BS! I dont get it!

Yeah i'm a very emotional Person haha. I can only Imagine the Pain from these times
For most people, it creates more tolerance and appreciation for where we are now.

I was born a few years before the blazers won the championship, so as a tiny tike I felt the excitement of blazer mania, but was pretty oblivious to what it was exactly. In the late 70's early 80's the Portland Police used to had out blazer cards, so I'd always run up to cops to ask if they had any blazer cards whenever they visited the Tamarack Apartments where I lived on N. Alaska Street. Years later when I was about 13 years old my uncle got "blazer cable" so I started watching games at his house, and have been watching the blazers ever since. As a teenager I used to check the NBA box scores every day and got to know the league pretty well. These days I get most of my blazer info from visiting this board almost every day.

True, but being mediocre is the worst thing that can happen to you in the NBA
You kinda proved my point. Going through the JailBlazers and the Roy & Oden saga shows that it's most definitely not.

I've been a Blazer fan since the first day the tickets went on sale in 1970. Before that I was a fan of our high school team that went to State and placed third, should have been second, Park Rose beat Stan Love's Eugene team for the championship but we lost by less of a margin to Parkrose than Eugene. Then I became a rabid fan of the OSU Beavers, first it was Slats Gill and then it was Paul Valenti, finally it was Ralph Miller. I also used to watch professional basketball (NBA) bach when I first entered high school. Never played the sport but I do love it.

Although I'm pretty much wheel chair bound and often am too sick to attend games, I've still got my tickets and go as often as I can.

I used to be able to watch the first half of a basketball game and have a pretty good idea who would win even if that team was behind. I've now lost that edge. Don't know why but I suspect it's an age related issue.

God, I love basketball and thanks for asking. This was kind of a pressure release.

My wife and I used to go to games during the Jail Blazer era when the seats were less than half full. I'm a die hard fan. In fact, the Sears battery can't take it while I can.

Someday I want to meet you and shake your hand. Youve always seemed like such an awesome guy.

How old are YOU? Haha.

EDIT: Nevermind, you're one of those weirdos that shows it on their profile.
I was released from the Army nearly ten years earlier. Fairly fresh back from combat, no fun, no fun at all.
My age? Same as Jack Benny, 39 and holding. Thanks for asking.

TELL MY WIFE AND MY IN-LAWS AND MY PSYCHIATRIST AND MY PRIEST AND SLY, HOBBES AND HOMERLOVESKOOKAID. They need to hear it from someone other than me.
I hate it in the morning when my wife wakes up and says, "Oh, it's you again."
