Here's something. When I was younger, before my throat cancer, I used to yell literally louder than anyone else in the Rose Garden and often. Once, when I had a seat in Row A behind the Blazer coach, Nate actually turned around to see who that character was that was yelling so loud "DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE."
 
I was in the first grade the year blazers came into being. Courtside seats were 8 bucks. My first game I saw was against the Lakers.There were concession stands near the locker room and dad took me and my brother there right before half. As we were walking out the half had ended and I almost ran into Wilt Chamberlin's kneecap as he was going to the locker room. I knew right then I wanted to play. Life don't work out the way you want I was about 4'9" until my sophomore year where my growth spurt happened and I went to a NBA center status of 5'6". I could never make the team in High school but I was always the last guy cut. I am not much of a stat guy either, I follow a team and some players but my life drives me in other directions now.

Ive been a fan ever since i can remember as a young child having my grandfather take me to games. Ive moved all over the country but never latched on to sny other team but Seattle back in the day. My favorite player of all time is Gary Payton l, so in highschool, when both had great teams i kinda supported both teams and was torn when they played each other.

Before that I was a fan of our high school team that went to State and placed third, should have been second, Park Rose beat Stan Love's Eugene team for the championship but we lost by less of a margin to Parkrose than Eugene. I used to be able to watch the first half of a basketball game and have a pretty good idea who would win even if that team was behind. I've now lost that edge. Don't know why but I suspect it's an age related issue.

Not much too it. Grew up in the Portland metro area as a kid. Being anything other than a Blazer fan wasn't much of an option. Can't say basketball is my favorite sport though. Which is why I never much go into the statistical/analytical side of the game much. I was more into baseball and soccer growing up. Now I just pay attention to basketball more because it's what's popular. And since it's what my friends want to watch when they come over, that's fine. But if they wanted to watch snooker tournaments, I could get hyped about that too. Sports are just sports, as far as I am concerned.

Grew up going to games with mom and dad. Whole neighborhood would come to our house to watch on Blazers Cable.....if not we were all down at The Paramount watching on the big screen. Was in Kindergarden when they won the championship and totally remember it.
Used to record all the games on VHS growing up and still are in a giant box out in my mom’s garage. I have a pinwheel tattoo and have NO weaknesses. Grew up playing basketball in NE Portland at the parks 8 days a week. As big a fan of the game of basketball itself as I am the Blazers.
Now, I try to catch as many games as I can.

I competed well in several sports, but, never made a school basketball team.

Maybe that is the reason I spent decades trying to learn the game.

The Harlem Globetrotters were my first favorite team. That was a special type of sports entertainment.

Then in 1970, the elderly lady living next door turned me on to the new Blazers team. She watched every game that was on TV then. It finally dawned on me her strong interest was not about the game, but about the young men running around in tight short shorts.

The game has changed a lot over the decades. To be honest, I agree with coach Pops. The game has become boring. It has become a 3 point contest, with less strategy and defense.

I still have an interest in the NBA, but I enjoy following the business side more than the games. The NBA takes in over $7 billion a year in revenues. That is more than the gross national product of 45 countries.

Started playing Grey Y ball at Ockley Green late 50's, and played through grade school. Never played HS as I played baseball & Football, basketball was always a way for me to chill, in the drive way shooting hoops.
Played a lot of intramural in college and leagues at the Milwaukie Elks for years. Started with Blazers since day one, but followed the NBA since way before that with my father who was a huge NBA fan.
I never lost my passion for the team even during the Jailblazer years as they also had some very good teams.
Im not a fan of clubs that have tanked as it's a cardinal sin in my mind for teams to purposely lose and not give a 100% win or lose.

Grew up in LA watching Wilt and Jerry West. Played hoops every friggin day. Went to many a Laker parade with Magic and Kareem.

Then I moved to Sac town, and then Portland, and as we all know, you can't live in either place and be a real fan without hating the Lakers. Luckily, the Shaq and Kobe teams were easy to hate.

Been a Blazer fan for 18 years now, and a season ticket holder for 10. Go Blazers!

I also wrote a book about the NBA.
 
Grew up in Iowa where the Globetrotters were my first love in basketball..Meadow Lark Lemon..my first real hero..then I had several teams I liked..Bucks Pistons...76ers...in 1971 I was in San Diego in the navy and played pickup hoops at Pacific Beach courts...Bill Walton occasionally played there and his crowd...followed his career and got hooked on the Blazers when they won it all...I was 23 years old for that championship ..stayed a Blazer fan since those days.
Got to hang out with Bill years later and we had some friends in common...great guy....terrible announcer in my view although he does college games better than the he does the pros

The 1990-91 team was the best NBA team ever in my book but we blew Game 1 of WCF and it cost us. During season, though, we were amazing. We stomped all over teams.

Back when there was no internet, I’d have to check scores on Headline News or by calling the Eugene Register-Guard office. Also listened to a lot of games on radio.

Despite what some people said here, I loved the Jail Blazers. With Sheed and Bonzi, you knew they could win any game if they wanted to. My favorite game ever was the regular season game against Lakers the season we had Steve Kerr. After Ruben Patterson got a tech, everyone threw their Bill Walton dolls on the court. Another great game was the steal-dunk-steal-dunk-steal-dunk stretch against Dallas also known as the Miracle Minute. That was also the Steve Kerr season. Kerr got a tech in that game even though we were up 30+. Another great Jail Blazers memory was coming back from 0-3 down vs Dallas to force a Game 7.

The two best games I’ve ever been to were Game 2 of 2000 WCFs in Los Angeles (we won 106-77) and sitting courtside at the Roy game against Dallas in 2011 playoffs.

As a player, I’m known for my tenacious defense, rebounding, and deadly outside shot (I hit three straight threes on Moda Center court). I played basketball in 5th & 6th grade and then in intramural basketball at Michigan (I was in the same class as the Fab Five). I played three seasons in the NBA Entertainment League, playing with Adam Sandler and against the likes of Justin Timberlake and Snoop Dogg (I was the only one with the guts to box him out.). My team won the championship in the third season but they never gave me my championship ring. I also toured Europe with the Hollywood Knights, a celebrity basketball team that played against the troops in conjunction with the USO.

For the 1999 season, I was the NBA consultant for national radio host Papa Joe Chevalier on One on One Sports Radio. From 2000-05, I wrote a column for Oregonlive.com as The Fan. One of my columns was quoted on TV on CNNSI. Then I wrote for the NBA Blog Squad and then as one of the Court Reporters for NBA.com. My column about missing Kobe’s 81 point game was on the front page of NBA.com.

I’ve sung the national anthem at Portland, Los Angeles, and Cleveland. I’ve been to every NBA arena and I am a season ticket holder this season.

The I started watching college ball and followed Arizona, started following Damon Stoudamire, shacked up with the Raptors for a while, then he came here. He left, I stayed.

As I'm in NZ and not in the USA I have no real area attachment, until DS came to Portland and it was just a wild ride.

I'm 42 btw and am the GM for a Digital Marketing firm down here and am on a bunch of industry boards n councils - but really i just like basketball, guitars, watches n cognac.

I didn't realize you had been to Detroit and Milwaukee or Sacramento recently.

I doubt many NBA fans appreciate how much impact the Globetrotters made to promote pro basketball. They were the national team before the NBA took off.

Got to watch Meadowlark and Curley play live. What a fun game. They had kids putting up hoops on every barn and lightpole.

Not only were the Globetrotters fun to watch, they were very good. Wonder how many know Wilt started his pro career as a Globetrotter?

I was raised in small town in southern Oregon. I start playing not until 5 grade. Played thru high school earn all athletes year book nation wide 1976. There was about 10 players in that book went on to play in the NBA. I also play football and baseball. Western in Oregon wanted me to go there to play baseball for them but I decided to go to the Army instead. I really didn't like school that much but I think was I had to by my parents and to play sports. Play 3 years basketball on the all post team in Hawaii where my first duty station in 1976-1979. In Germany I coach 2 years for our company. In Korea I got to refereeing part of the game. After retirement came home started refereeing high school games and coach my younger kid YMCA team and then his junior high team. Then went up to be assistant coach at the high school level. I watch a lot UCLA in the John Wooden days and started to watch the Blazers from day one of the franchise. I was a big fan of Sidney Wicks at UCLA and was happy when the Blazers drafted him. Now I just watch the Blazers and watch the college game.

I took the family to go watch the Globetrotters last year....their performance has really gone downhill.

Maybe we got the show with the 'B' team performers, but I was disappointed
