C.C Sabaitha is one of my canidates, then I got Peavy along with Haren.

AL: BeckettNL: PeavyThey have to be the two big favorites here..

I def have Haren as the Cy Young so far. His ERA is more than 1 lower than Beckett who's having a great season. Haren has just been dominating.Peavy so far in the NL as everyone said.

I predicted Josh Beckett at the start of the season. I'm leaning more towards CC Sabathia now, and Peavy in the NL.

In the AL, I am liking John Lackey. 9 wins, with a 2.70 era and 67 strike outs is pretty good as a starter. In the NL, I am liking Josh Peevy, although if Cole Hammels can lower that ERA he will definately make a run out of that CY young.

In the NL, it is Jake Peavy by far. Hamels is the next guy, IMO.In the AL, it is a mix of guys. C.C. Sabathia, Josh Beckett, and Dan Haren are some of the obvious choices like you mentioned. But if Roger Clemons does good this year, he may win it too with all the media attention in NY. Another person I can see that emerges as an early Cy Young is Fausto Carmona with a 3.11 ERA and a 7-1 record. As of late, Dice-K has heated up. If he has been pitching like he has lately, he would win it too.

SpursFan idk what you're talking about. Dice-K has lost his last two starts haha

I must have gotten mixed up.. I thought he won his last two starts haha.

AL: CC Sabathia (Right behind him are Haren, Beckett and Lackey)NL: Jake Peavy (Cole Hamels not too far behind, then Brad Penny and John Smoltz)

I agree somewhat, for starting pitchers wins doesn't mean a whole lot as lots of the time wins has to do with run support. People like John Lackey might have four losses, but since he's only giving up 2.70 earned runs a game, obviously he's not gotten the run support he has needed in those losses.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (The Truth @ Jun 9 2007, 09:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>in the AL its EASILY Beckett or Haren, C.C? wow lol</div>Agreed. CC's win total is only high because of the enormous run support from Cleveland's offense. His ERA well over both Beckett and Haren's.

sabathia was my early season prediction

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (The Captain @ Jun 9 2007, 07:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Wins are the most meaningless stat out there.</div>Agreed, Randy lost the Cy Young a few years ago to Roger Clemens when he had a better year. Clemens only won because of run support.

NL: Jake Peavy AL: Josh Beckett The AL race has a bit of irony to in my predictions. Back in 2002 Oakland ace Barry Zito won the cy young over Boston ace Pedro Martinez because Oakland made the playoffs while Boston didn't even though Pedro had the better season. This time Boston's ace Josh Beckett will win the award because his team will be in the playoffs where as Oakland won't even though Dan Haren has had the better season.2002:Pedro Martinez: 20-4, 2.26 era, 0.92 whip & 239 KsBarry Zito: 23-5, 2.75 era, 1.13 whip & 182 Ks2007:Josh Beckett: 9-0, 2.88 era, 1.00 whip & 67 KsDan Haren: 7-2, 1.58 era, *0.87 whip & 76 Ks * not adjusted for Saturday's start

Well I think this year will be an exception to that if the beats him in ERA by that much. That's insane... What about last year? Did some non playoff team pitchers win it over playoff team pitchers?

Johan Santana won it in the AL but the Twins won the AL Central. Brandon Webb won it in the NL but no one who was on a playoff team (LA, SD, NY & St Louis) deserved the award so it became a 2 man race between Roy Oswalt and Brandon Webb.

Speaking of the 2004 NL cy young disgrace. The only thing Clemens had an advantage over RJ was the W-L record which as already mentioned was completly misleading by the horrible dbacks offense. TBU had Rocket's number in IP, era, whip, baa, Ks, complete games and shut outs (not to mention Randy's perfect game).

Two years back Bartolo Colon beat out Johan Santana for the Cy Young. Johan had a better statistical year in every category besides wins, which Colon beat him out in by 2 or 3, and Colon got it.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (The Truth @ Jun 9 2007, 09:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>in the AL its EASILY Beckett or Haren, C.C? wow lol</div>I don't think it's easily Beckett or Haren. Lackey has the same number of wins as Beckett does, a slightly lower ERA, the same amount of strikeouts as Beckett does. He is doing just as well as what Beckett is doing, so I really don't think it's easily Beckett.

I guess some people are smokin some sh*t, why have I not seen <span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:100%">ANDY PETTITTE</span> on people's list? I mean, his ERA went up a bit in his last start because of A HORRIBLEY played ball in CF by Melky Cabrera, he over ran the ball, and it gave up an inside the park home run, which was two more ER and his ERA would still be around 2.7 or 2.8 without that. And, he should have 7 or 8 wins but the bullpen has blown numerous games for him. o and he gets no run support AT ALL when he pitches.

I don't remember. Well that's gay then. :dunno: ERA, WHIP, BAA, K's, BB's...everything is more important than wins but somehow that seems to be the most important pitching stat to everyone. The basketball MVP is not always awarded to the best player, but the Cy Young is supposed to be the best pitcher award. OH sh*t, Johnson vs. Dice K in 10 min!

Tom Gorzelanny should be at least be getting talked about. His ERA is one of the lowest in the NL and I think he has 6 wins, which is awesome considering he pitches for the Pirates.

Roger Clemens won't win Cy Young unless he plays lights out for the rest of the season.

With the way the media rides his cock, I wouldn't be surprised if he did get it, and didn't out perform other pitchers. In past history as Diawsome has shown, the best pitcher doesn't always win.
