Your ideal draft day?

With the likelihood that it will cost too much to trade into the top-4, as rumored, who would you target in the top-10?

Mike Born, Blazer scout, recently said that the team is trying to move up in the draft.

In my opinion, I think KP is looking at a 4/5 to groom as a replacement for Joel, or even Greg Oden down the road.

If we can't move up to get a dynamic young PG, then why bother? But if we do bother, Aldrich would be as good a pick for back-up center as any of 5 other players.

I also like staying put and drafting Dominique Jones.

It's supposedly a deep draft, so I'm somewhat hopeful we'll get at least a decent player even if we stay at our 22nd slot.

As for what would make it "ideal," it depends what kind of trades KP pulls off for established rotation guys, not so much for draft picks, unless it means moving up and somehow getting a hold of a guy like Favors or maybe Cousins. More realistically, if he can somehow consolidate Bayless, Rudy, and/or Martell along with Joel's (soon to be) expiring contract -- meaning no official confirmation until July 1st -- for a legit "point guard of the future" to be Miller's heir apparent or if he can bolster the bench with a true instant offense sixth man and rounds out the edges with an upside small forward like Paul George in the draft then I think that would be a pretty good day.

I don't really have any interest in acquiring any rookies in this draft outside of Wall/Turner.

So, I just want us to use our assets on draft day to consolidate talent and get better players to fill out our top 8.

In all likelyhood though I would like Portland to move up to #3 or #4 and pick up either Favors or Cousins.

Eat a hearty breakfast, get my balls waxed (figuratively, not literally) while watching "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum," followed by eighteen holes of golf, a shower, and a nap. It depends on what we think we can do in trades this summer; if there is some way we could get a PG like Devin Harris or Darren Collison, that would change my strategy for draft day. A "super athletic, physical" 20 year old French player, presumably he would stay overseas for a couple years. Then I would do whatever necessary to try to find a PG of the future, try to buy a late first round pick (or trade Rudy for one), try to move up in the 2nd round, maybe even draft three guys and hope to find one keeper. More of a combo guard, very strong defender.

I was just reading about him.

And read that he is going to have knee surgery in the next couple of weeks. It appears that right after draft express had him listed as Portland's 22nd pick Kevin blew out his knee.

It's getting to the point now where it is just fucking stupid.

I'm really starting to like what I'm reading about this kid. Check this out:

Torrance stands out the most in transition, where his size clearly helps him as a finisher. He scored 1.354 points per-possession in transition, ranking as the best fast break scorer in the group. Though only average in half court situations, Torrance is the third most effective isolation player in the group shooting 47.5% and has a lot of experience on the pick and roll, with 30.8% of his possessions coming such situations (3rd most).

If anyone's going to be successful as a PG under Nate, it's one who can excel in iso's and pick-and-rolls, right?

Looking at players in the lotto that fits what KP likes - high character / high potential players, would it surprise anyone if the player we have targeted in the lotto is Ed Davis?

Defense is his forte who's often compared to Dale Davis and PJ Brown.

Also, I think Darington Hobson will be a steal. A bit under the radar playing at UNM, but he's a player who does a little bit of everything. Chad Ford said he's been dominating other prospects during workouts.

Apparently, he has a promise from a team in the late first-round.

A 6'6.5" SF, reading articles and profiles, he sounds like a Udoka/Dudley type of player.
