I sat in 300 for game 5 in that series and paid 15 for my seat. This seems like a big way for the "Moda Center" to cash in on the excitement to be back in the Playoffs. Unfortunately its not like this is going to be a one time pricing either. I fully expect the same pricing for next year if we make it in again.

The fans will rebel, especially if we don't make it out of the first round this year. Playoff basketball will suck if the Rose Garden doesn't sell out.

All I know is that my season ticket price for next year went up 42% per seat. 42%. Yet, I renewed and paid in full by the deadline to lock in my regular season pricing for playoff tickets. I'm an enabler.

Nothing wrong with getting/being drunk and loud. But swearing (loudly) is not cool in a public setting...and spilling beer is NEVER cool anywhere! Heckle the heck out of players, but keep the language clean. When I use to go to games I'd generally lose my voice by half-time...then in the 4th quarter my yelling would be cutting in and out and cracking like a 12 year old.
Pro-tip: anticipate the quiet moments to bellow your heckles. I know that a couple players heard my taunts.

I'm usually too focused on the game to be talking trash. Even when I'm at games in LA and the Blazers are winning I don't go and just be rude to people.

I'm not a fan of the cowbell.

How about using a small non-amplified megaphone. Like a miniature version of the one's college cheerleaders used back in Jlprk's day. They should sell those (if they don't -- I've never seen a Blazers one). Heck tear the bottom out of a coke cup and yell through that.

But the cowbell...not just annoying but sends the wrong message, IMO.

I'm so excited for the "O Fortuna" video intro at Blazer games, that is so fresh and innovative! / green font

disclaimer I havent been to many Blazer games the last 3 years so this joke might not be applicable anymore

We had a guy like that a few rows above us last game - drunk, cussing, thinking he's way more clever than he was . . . I finally narced on him to the usher. There were kids around, and in any case, we came to watch the game, not listen to him. She shut him up fast. As she told me later, "We have a code of conduct here."

In other news, I won't say we need more cowbell, but when appropriate, I say A-OK. I used to live in Sac - Arco was cowbell heaven!

I am sorry but going to the usher is a bitch move. Having children around is a pathetic excuse, especially considering some of the stupid shit people allow their children to do now. 10 year old's do not need a fucking cell phone, belly shirt or make up. Jeggings are not pants and they make your teenage daughter look like a slut even worse for children who are not even teens yet. Facebook is the devil, anything with the Kardashians kills brain cells, Blurred Lines is not an okay song for you kids to listen too, much less sing along with. Miley Cyrus is not a role model, 13 year olds should not be playing COD and shooting others in the face, GTA is even worse, and that is just the surface of shit people allow their children to do.

Cursing happens at games, as it should because it represents a non violent release of aggression, or a chance to vent frustration. For a playoff game here is how fans should behave, they should A: stand up and cheer for their team of choice for the entire 48 minutes the ball is on the court. There is no B, for the entire game no one with the exception of the press, announcers, disabled and players should be sitting down. Need a break sit during timeouts, and at halftime, but until the Moda Center no longer needs to tell the fans when to cheer or chant then it should not be telling the people who are actually cheering on their own what is or is not appropriate to say, with a couple small caveats.

Racially motivated words, and gay bashing should be excluded from public chants, but fuck em up Lillard that is a fun chant the whole family can enjoy.

Why Nate, the flowers do not care about basketball they are just there to be enjoyed. Now maybe if the Moda Center does not sell out then I could understand your argument.

lol @ wheels. They need a new dynamic into vid...they should contract with local comic creators Dark Horse Comics and have them animate an into sequence with all the guys (would love to see them super-hero'd) and put it to something that not only rocks but would cause other teams to go "Well crap our home into isn't that cool"

I am not aware of this "Moda Center" to which you refer. Is it in Portland?

Agree, on drunk and disorderly. Don't know about Portland, but in Oakland I've seen concessions serve guys (sorry, but they were all guys) who were literally falling down drunk.

An occasional 'damn' is one thing but nonstop cussing is obnoxious and boring. True fans can be more original than calling all the players fucking f---ots.

I like bells, whistles, zuzuelas, towels, anything (except whistles blown right in my ear). But I get annoyed with signs saying make noise. If there is reason to cheer the fans will make plenty of noise. Whenever I see a make nosie sign I STOP making noise.

But the most annoying thing of all - is when the Blazers lose.
So just win baby.

Wait the cheapest ticket for a Portland home playoff game is $60?

That's not including any fees?

WTF?

I can get playoff tix in Indy for < $20 with a great view. McClown needs to have his head examined.

Applaud the new President overall, but his justification for raising prices doesn't fly. Sure it is line with the other major markets, but Portland Metro income levels are not.

Me too he rapes you then makes you thank him for it, just like he was the leader of cult except he does not have to promise you anything like eternal happiness, wealth or long life to get you to submit.

Yes it is 1 N Center Ct St, Portland, OR 97227 the Max takes you right to it.

I go by there on the way to Timbers matches all the time. They should dabble in an incredibly addictive substance called Phonics, cause that is a weird way to spell "Rose Garden"

Blame the scalpers and others making money on the resell market for tickets costing more. The team also shows season ticket holders value since we still get them at cheaper prices for renewing. Makes it easier to stomach.

1) prices are rediculous this year
2)if you want a real good time the nosebleeds are where the real fans sit. Corporate quiets sit down low. The rowdy goes on up top.
3) cuss all you want. Especially in 300s because tbe person next to you probably cant even hear you.

During "the come back" I couldnt even hear my own words. All we could do was jump on eachother and scream.

The 300 level is definitely the most fun during the playoffs.

Cussing should not only be tolerated, it should be encouraged. Kids need to learn what these words mean.

All teams play it. And if you get the lyrics translated you'll see how totally inappropriate they are!

High prices are not rape.

Drunks are a downer anywhere in life, not just in sports arenas. They are just as boorish and disgusting in bars or parks or on the road. If you're a drunk, stay the fuck home. Nobody wants you around.

Cowbells are nearly as annoying as drunks. They are purposely designed to sound obnoxious, and cause ear pain to those nearby. Same with air horns, only cowbells are worse IMO.

Whatever happened to screaming your guts out? Too "old school"? :dunno:

Wow Sergio you post here too? Man I gotta start coming around here more often!

Not too old school, but would rather preserve my voice. That being said I will no doubt be screaming, I'll just be sure to bring throat soothing lozenges and drink some throat coat after the games!

Good excuse to use the sweet disney princess mugs I got on my last trip to disneyland!

That's the problem with the front office these days. They're completely out of touch with the fans. The Timbers have taken over as the "every day fan" team. The Blazers are for the rich people.

I love both teams, however the Blazers will always be my #1 to the Timbers yet my primary youth sport was soccer and never basketball. Sure, the buzz is loud around the Timbers to make you think it could surpass the Blazers. However, the RSN ratings say otherwise.

The average RSN Rating for the Blazers this year is 4.27.

The RSN Rating for the Timbers home opener this year against Chicago was 2.8 or 2.2 depending on what source you're looking at; MLS or OregonLive.

The Blazers set a record with their home opener in 2012 against the Lakers at an average of 11.6 RSN rating. Expectations were low for the team with no real, true, hope coming from the majority of the fanbase in making the playoffs that year. We finished 33-49 that season. Meanwhile the Timbers are coming off a big, big season being one win away from making the MLS Championship. We finished #1 in the West and were making a seriously strong case to win it all. The opening RSN rating for the home opener was 2.8 according to mlssoccer.com and 2.2 according to Oregonlive.

The Blazers destroy the Timbers in TV ratings. Both teams pretty much sell out as well. Blazers have the nod over the Timbers.

I don't understand the hate towards the Blazers Organization somehow being against the fans or just simply out of touch with the fans. They sell out their games so obviously there is a big audience that is willing to pay big $$$ to attend these games. Remember our sell out streak at the Rose Garden? Sure, towards the end, you could argue numbers very well could have been skewed to favor holding on to that record. However, there is no denial the games were still relatively packed. The ticket prices suck to be that high because many can't afford it or it is higher than their price cap for that ticket. The Blazers had 19 teams with higher average ticket prices this year and the prices jumped only 5.7% from last year. 19 teams again were ahead of the Blazers in increasing their ticket prices.

The ticket prices in the blue section is $218. Meanwhile back in 2011, playoff tickets in the same location were listed at $180 before the playoffs. That really isn't a big jump give it has been 3 years now.

Don't point the finger at the Blazers, I think they do a pretty good job with the community. That is solely based off my observation and is totally subjective. They have to price their tickets within the market. After all they are a business. Whether we all want to like it or not, all businesses are in it to make money. It's surprising we would even give the middle finger to the Blazers front office given the fact they have kept price increases to a minimum compared to most of the league. Even despite our hot start and becoming a playoff team, fighting for home court advantage in the first round, our ticket prices remained relatively the same as last year. You should be actually thanking them that they didn't go with the norm and charge outrageous prices throughout the season.

All NBA Playoff tickets will be high. All games will be sold out regardless of price. It's a business whether we like it or not. Appreciate the Blazers accomplishments this year and giddy up for the playoffs!

Ive been to 2 playoff games. Both in 300 first one we lost to lakers game 3 of first round of 5 for the sweep. When we were ahead some random dude kissed my cheek. Under any other circumstance I would have punched him. We cried together when kobe and horry hit 3s to win it. The comback was crazy. It was basically a mosh pit the whole second half.

some of this is right on the money but... some of it is just...

children don't need to be used as an excuse.
I personally will demand someone stop saying some form of "fucking bullshit call ref" every two seconds.
don't desire to listen to homer fans who don't know anything about basketball say a cuss word every possession.
shows ignorance.
racially motivated words, and homophobic slurs aren't allowed to be said anymore as it offends some people.
As well as it offends some people when people cuss like a sailor.
There is no difference.
If someone thinks there is, it's the typical thing that is wrong with this world.
Must be tolerant of X, and if your not you'll get bashed for it.
But those people that call for tolerance on X refuse to give the same respect to another person on what offends them.
