I don't get it. Does that Marang guy think those players are the same? They aren't.

If he was trying to be funny, it worked.
If he was trying to be serious, it didn't.
I'm guessing we will see a lot more of Collins, Myle, Hark and Caleb the rest of the season. NO knows we can't win it all and will develop them at all cost to either make them productive team members (Collins) or hope he raises their value enough to move in the off season. (Myle, Hark, Caleb) IMO.
He's got his hands full learning to defend Howard and Zbo type centers for the first time game to game...he's in school..they'll trick him into rookie mistakes until he knows their game well enough...he does really well for a teenaged centerYeah he's in a shooting slump alright. Hope he stays confident.
I want to believe in Collins.
Last night before the game I ran comparisons of Jermaine O'Neal, both Gasols, Nowitzki, Z-bo, Aldridge, Porzingis, Bosh,Nurkic, Jokic, AK47 and a couple others, all in their first years. Not a single one of them except Draymond Green (7.1) had a PER below 11.0 as a rookie. And Draymond was being used as a SF back then. Even Nick Collison started out his career at 15.0. Meyers Leonard had a rookie year with a PER of 12.1. Zach Collins currently sits at 8.5 after 500 minutes of actual NBA playing time.
I pretty much gave up hope after that. And then I saw him play last night, and I read the numbers about his January shooting.
It is nice to see his threes falling, and if they continue to I can definitely see him getting more minutes and producing more, lifting him up. But I don't know, man. If three of his three point attempts in January don't go in, he's having a 32% month. Such a small sample size.
He's already an above-average NBA defender, which is a huge plus as a 7 footer and will keep him in the league as long as he's mobile. So I'm not worried about him being a total bust--for a 10th pick it's perfectly acceptable to get a decent bench player. But I'm not nearly as optimistic as I was at the start of the season. I'm kind of foreseeing more of an Ed Davis-type of career.
I wrote that post when there was an uptick in the stats. But now he's at 6.9.
I don't know. We had a LOT of patience with bigs like Meyers and Vonleh, and I kind of see this happening again. I remember watching Aldridge, Z-Bo and Oden play as rooks, and it was, "HELL yeah, this guy needs more MINUTES!" Collins feels a lot more like Meyers and Vonleh, where you say to yourself , "Maybe there's something there if we just give him some time."
I had dreams at the beginning of the season of a Porzingis/Ak47 hybrid. Now I feel like he's more in the Channing Frye/Ed Davis career path--specialist bigs who will hang around in the league for a long time but aren't the kind of guys you build around.
Neither of those guys play D like Collins. Nor have his post footwork. Sorry.
Where is the Zach Collins in Febuary thread?
2 pt. 3-26
3 pt. 1-13
Ft 6-8
He's still trying to fit it.I like Collins' defensive instincts, and he seems coordinated enough to walk and chew bubblegum at the same time, and that's also good, but I see very little nose for the ball when it comes to rebounding, and he does not look like a natural on offense. There's nothing particularly wrong with him mechanically per se, it's just a certain lack of aggressiveness. So maybe he takes a leap next year or the year after, but I would be shocked if ever matures into bonafide star.
