Why do you know about that website?

A year or so ago Talkhard commented on BBF about a thread on another site he posts on and being curious I did a search for it and Googled "Talkhard", and VIOLA! (or should I say "ewww"?)

I can think of a number of additional concrete reasons why I would not support gay couples adopting/raising children. I'll list a few below:

1. Because children learn about relationships from their parents, a child raised by a gay couple who is not him/herself gay would not have a good model for his or her future relationships.

2. A heterosexual child as a teen would not have an experienced adult with whom to discuss normal teenage issues such as dating, relationships, when to become sexually active vs. postponing it, birth control, etc.

3. In an area that does not readily accept gays and lesbians, the child might be socially stigmatized. In addition, if the adoptive parents were men, parents of the child's potential friends might subscribe to the common but erroneous belief that gays are likely child molesters, and forbid their child to associate with the adopted child.

4. Because gay marriage is not permitted in most places, and is in fact illegal in many places, there would be a lot of legal issues should one of the parents die. You can read about the case of Sharon Kowalski and Karen Tomberlin. In 1983, Sharon was paralyzed and suffered severe brain damage in an auto accident. Her lover and partner of ten years fought an eight year battle to gain custody of her and assume her care. Her parents had assumed custody and placed her in a nursing home, whereas Tomberlin wanted to care for her in the home they shared.

I can think of one indisputably obvious reason why everyone should support gay couples adopting/raising children:

They won't be "raised" at all otherwise.

It's not like gay couples are stealing babies from maternity wards, or kidnapping them from schoolyards.

They are legally adopting them through licensed agencies from ORPHANAGES!

As I pointed out in another thread:

I believe if they are adopted, they have already previously been denied having a mom and dad, either because their parents didn't want them, or due to tragic circumstances.

There are over 210 Million orphans in the world as we speak.

210 Million!

For comparison, the United States has a total population of 300 Million people.

If someone has the heart, and the courage to make the commitment to raise one of these poor kids who currently have not only no future but no present to speak of, I say to you "get the fuck out of their way and let them be human".

210 Million Orphans!

Having skimmed through a little of this thread (it'd make more sense to read a Choose Your Own Adventure novel from beginning to end), I'd like to chime in with my own random piece of gay-ness tangent:

http://www.ryangarns.com/archives/article_102508.php

Opponents of gay marriage who believe marriage should only apply to heterosexuals now wish to restrict access to another sacred institution: Christmas.
"Much like traditional marriage, the traditions of Christmas have been under assault for many years now," says Brent Slabroller, leader of The Defense of Traditions Coalition. "In order to preserve those traditions, we're calling for a constitutional amendment that defines Christmas as only for Christians."
...

"We're not saying non-Christians can't have a celebration of their own," said Slabroller. "We're just saying don't call it Christmas. Call it 'Pagan Day'. Call it 'Gee-I-Wish-I-Could-Celebrate-Christmas-But-Instead-I'm-A-Godless-Heathen' Day. Instead of singing carols, you can go door-to-door reading Charles Darwin to each other. Or the Qur'an or Harry Potter or whatever else non-Christians like to read. I wouldn't know."

In other related news: a gay rights group is calling for a legal definition of Broadway musicals in order to keep out heterosexuals. More on this as it develops.

Yes, I've read that. A pound of vegetables takes far less land and resources to produce than a pound of beef, pork or chicken.

A pound of vegetables contains far less total nutrition than a pound of meat.

Tlong- when I adopt a child, that child will have plenty of role models and confidants. That child will have 8 loving aunts, 7 loving uncles, and two loving grandparents.

Furthermore, are all straight couples good parents? Are they all good role models? Are they all the right ones to ask for advice? I think not.

From that site:

Daniel O. asks:

"Why is your website called 'Talk Hard'?"

Answer:

Once upon a time there were two websites... my personalized DL (Diaper Lovers) site and also my Talk Hard website.

My DL site was simply that, it was a diaper site about me, my likes, dislikes and so on. I had a few of my earlier stories posted, some pics of myself (no I don't have those posted anymore), and a few other DL related items of interest to me.

My Talk Hard site originated out of a darker, more turbulant period in my life when I was a much angrier person than I am now. I had oppinions about anything and everything and was known to rant on and on and on about anything.

Well one day I decided that it was about time for some life changes. I decided to merge the two sites into one and yes that met with some resistance from visitors to both sites. Many were not happy about the change and still others freeked out about the whole diaper thing.

I decided when merging the two sites to keep the title Talk Hard simply because I like it so much. I mean it fits even with my writing and at the same time it contridics everything about diapers.

IF this is Talkhard's site, it makes sense.

BenDavis is a moron.

And, of course, is unaware of it.

His moniker is heavy in irony, as Ben Davis Sr. was the US Army's first African-American General.

Ben Davis Jr. was an United States Air Force general and commander of the World War II Tuskegee Airmen.

A pound of vegetables contains far less total nutrition than a pound of meat.

Pretty much everything I've seen on nutrition contradicts that. Vegetables have more vitamins, reduce risks of things like cancer and heart disease, and don't contain the high levels of cholesterol that meat does.

I'm still waiting for crandc to post her menu...

From that site:

IF this is Talkhard's site, it makes sense.

It sounds like his writing style, but aren't "diaper enthusiasts" all about CHANGES?

All I know is I'm sorry I ever clicked on it.

My mailbox is full of Depends coupons now.:biglaugh:

I'm here in SF right now and all the gay people look "normal" to me! As long as the "gays" root for the Blazers, they can do what they want! Checkmate KingSpeed!
