Zaza Pachulia?!?

My hope right now is that Zaza spurns the Blazers and takes less money to go elsewhere. At this point it's not completely unrealistic.

He doesn't have to sign sub par players to bloated contracts. He doesn't have to go after Zaza. Sometimes the best move in the situation is no moves at all.
Ah, I see. I agree to an extent. However, maybe he thinks that's all we need to push us to where we need to be. Obviously we're not going to succeed by the orthodox method, maybe he thinks what we have in house and one big is our best chance.

Huh? This team with Zaza is no more or less likely to overcome the dubs. It's a non-move that only makes it more likely that our future draft pick is slightly worse.

I get tgat Zaza makes us marginally better, but he's not helping us win a title in 2-3 years, when we gave a shot to do it

Pachulia is literally an older worse Plumlee with the same deficiencies on defense. Neil is batshit out of his mind.
he is actually a physically tough guy who has played very well the past couple yrs, when Plums and Davis are gettin pushed around he's a good guy to have. Give him a couple yr contract and I'm fine with it, Ezeli physical risks just too high

Zaza Pachulia, Per-36:
Pts: 11.7
Reb: 12.9
Blk: 0.4
FG%: 0.466
PER: 16.2

Although it's certainly not what we were hoping for, Zaza isn't a total dud. I'd rather go this route than lose our RFAs. We're in a use it or lose it situation here. Once we sign our RFAs, we'll be over the CAP. I'd like to wait for a 'lopsided trade', but with the interest in our RFAs, we'll need to have our 'CAP filler' (Zaza?) signing ready to go.

We've got a darn good team that is young and full of potential. So far, Olshey has struck out on getting a significant contributor. Now lets at least make sure we stay on par and sign our RFAs.

Actually Neil probably is trying to sabotage his firing so he doesnt have to work in this depressing market anymore.
If he's sabotaging his firing, that means he doesn't want to get fired. But I understand what you meant. My take is that Olshey is finally waking up to the fact that he just can't compete with the other GMs around the league.

Yah I'm sure that's it

Greg Monroe. Hear he might be available.

I agree. Think towards a trade to make your improvements...now.
I've always said no to Monroe but I'm at the point where I'd be ecstatic if we got him.

Actually I think Monroe/Leonard center rotation with Aminu/Harkless/Vonleh at 4 would work well. Bulk at 5 but 4s that can chase guys around.

I'd rather we just kept what we have for now. Try to improve on the players we have. We're dumpster diving now folks.

Zaza is not exciting, but he does fit in with what I was hoping for in free agency. Meaning a wing upgrade and a cheap big who brings toughness and defense. ( at least that is what the Mav fans said about him during the season)
