That's great, I also like the one that's made up like Mortal Kombat and it writes out <font color=""Red"">FINISH HIM </font>as he headbutts Materazzi. Anyway for Zidane I fully respect what he did and no matter what anyone says he's still the greatest player of this generation. No actual football fan will disagree, believe me.

Well, I just think Zidane got way to much hype, all because of his 2 goals in the '98 finals. Without those magnificent cornerkicks of Djorkaeff, Zidane wouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Ronaldo, let alone Maradonna or Pele.

Pele and Maradona aren't from this generation now are they? You missed that when I placed it a few posts back. Definitely agreed though for best player of all-time it is Maradona. Pele was amazing but Maradona was just superb in every way for me. I wouldn't disagree though if someone put Pele as their pick for best of all-time, that's all easily debatable. But for this generation it is Zidane and not just for his 1998 World Cup final two goals. There's more to him than that, you must've missed much during those years.
Everyone put the typical hype and believed the hype of Brazil going into this tournament. This is due to the corruption of FIFA and the marketing of Joga Bonito. Notice how everyone that didn't like the sport of football (soccer) in the US came crowding around because those commercials were played every break on sports networks. All sorts of people saying they [Brazil] would easily win and such. I was surprised they even made it as far as they did given if they would've had some decent competition before France.
Zizou shown it this World Cup once again anyway. Ronaldinho is an amazing talent to watch but he isn't a leader and he can't produce when it comes down to the biggest stage in the world. He is not the best player, never was either of those years he won that award. He cracked completely while Zidane still ran rings around his defenders the best he could. Sure it wasn't like in 98' but it was still better than what Ronaldinho could actually do. FIFA calls every pity foul on a player if they even barely touch a Brazilian like Ronaldinho because they believe it will allow the crowd to see more magnificent ball skills. This is complete crap, Joga Bonito "the beautiful game" my ass. All this does is slow down the contest. Let's take a look at this year's World Cup. Whenever a player is carded early the games ended up being droughts, why? Because the teams would be afraid the card-happy referee would show them another and they'd be down one man. This is pathetic, and it happened just about every match that took place. It's now become so much more of fear to lose because of poor officiating rather than fear of the other team's talented roster. Will they speak up against FIFA? Of course not, they will be fined and suspended for a lengthy period of time.
I'm sure you must know that players gain these great ball skills as youths in order to avoid tackles and fouls. That's what it's for, FIFA doesn't realize this they don't care much either, nor does the Brazilian government. The only thing any of them including Nike care for is their marketing campaign and making plenty of money off of the most famous and hyped up national team in the World. I feel sorry for Brazilian fans that give their heart and soul to their team. The team doesn't mean much of what it once was long ago. The beautiful game is slowing decaying.
Now don't think I'm taking anything away from Brazil, when they won it all those years it was because they really were the best during each of their runs. That's all their is to it. But currently they suffer from the "Bermuda triangle" of football and not too many people seen that because they didn't bother to look. That gaping hole in the back of the defense is a disaster waiting to happen and had they faced higher scoring teams they would've been humiliated this year.
As for Ronaldo? He was great before he became lazy and overweight. He's still better when it comes to scoring goals though I'll give you that and he was a magnificent player. I used to call him the Magician, and would try to find any matches from his clubs on television or the Internet the best I could. Now I just call him Fat-Ronaldo and could really care less where he plays or that he even does. His great ability didn't last as long as we all could've hoped for so I would never be able to say he was better than Zidane overall for this generation. Yet his past surely would still give him the honor of being one of the best.

Seriously Phuzer, Zidane's greatness extends beyond the world stage. I have never seen such a creative and dynamic midfielder. I think it's ironic that you mention Zidane being overhyped, but then pull out examples like Ronaldo. Take it from someone who followed him closely in his prime, when he played with Juventus: M Two One is right. There hasn't been a football player in our lifetime that can touch Zizou.

On an international level, none of those players are even remotely close to ZZ. I hate the guy and I can give him that much. Bergkamp? If you're talking about someone who played around his time think about Cantona (retired as Bergkamp was coming up.) Nesta? What did he ever do before this year's world cup. Zidane had Thuram,Djorkaeff,Deschamps,Desailly,Dugarry,Henry and Ribberie with the French national team and Beckham,Ronaldo,Raul,Davids,Makelele,Cannavaro, Figo and Del Piero as teammates.
Zidane was great when he had talent around him, Giggs,Keane,Rivaldo and Bergkamp(in his prime) had to do it all by themselves, either in their respective national teams(Giggs,Keane) or in their clubs(Rivaldo,Bergkamp) I know many people will disagree with me, but I saw all of those greatnesses play in real-life(more than once) and I can assure you, Zidane never left a great impression. If you ask me for the best player of his generation, it will be either Ronaldo or Figo, not Zidane.

Henry is really the only game changing player on that list. The others are solid and have had nice careers, but will soon be forgotten. Remember France's ranking going into this cup? Not to mention that they had the washed up Barthez in net. I am a huge Zidane and France hater - but you can catch me saying that along with Henry, he carried the team.

Another problem is that he mentioned Rib?ry who is only 23 and still considered untested on National duties as a promonent aspect to the matches. So that doesn't make any sense as good as he shown at the World Cup. He will be given his ultimate opportunity at Euro 2008 Swizterland/Austria.

Olympiakos is somewhere he went to spend the twilight of his career. However, in the past they have had a HUGE amount of success in the Greek league and minimal success in the UEFA Champions League.
