Stalking is a hard sell. Murder is very possible. I would think manslaughter would be the most easily sold on this one. It will be interesting to see/hear what the witnesses have to say. My contention has always been that he could have avoided the situation, and because he put himself in the situation where he had to take a life, he must face some form of consequences. I'm not convinced that he went after the kid with the intention of killing him, which would (in my mind) make it difficult to prove aggravated stalking and murder.

My contention is he shot the kid. It may or may not have been justified, but given the kid didn't have a weapon of his own, it was bringing a gun to a fist fight. Bringing a gun to a knife fight is smart and reasonable.

The "evidence" thrown around is only useful in the court of public opinion. In a real court, both sides make their case and present evidence, and citizens obliged to fairly serve as jurors decide one way or the other.

I'd have been satisfied if they arrested the guy, charged him and he got off for good reason. Or if he were found guilty, so be it.

Point is that Zimmerman had a gun and knew what he was doing (firing at someone) and what the consequences would be (likely serious injury or death). Maybe he was doing it in self defense and justified in shooting. But there is no mistake of what his intent was when pulling that tirgger. Either murder or self defense.

My father's family is from Hungary, their ship was turned away from Ellis Island so it went to Cuba where my dad was born. He looks white but he has a Spanish accent. I remember a few times when people gave him a bad time when I was growing up just because they thought he was Mexican based on his accent.

(And just for the record my father came to this country legally when he was 21yrs old, served in the military and proudly became a US Citizen.)

For good and/or bad people determine an other person's race on many things, looks, name or even an accent.

My parents met at the air force base swimming pool, my mom was a military brat. She's a red head and pretty hot in her day. Anyway one time when I was a little kid we were eating at a Chinese restaurant in NE Portland when two 2 drunk guys in the booth next to us started talking shit to my mom and dad, asking my mom why she was with some greasy spick and other rude shit. Weren't white guys good enough for her and what kind of an example was she setting for her son (me). I guess me being blond w/ blue eyes and my dad with a Spanish accent they assumed he wasn't my dad.

What was really weird was up until that very moment I didn't know my dad had an accent. My dad sounded like my dad. Even to this day when people meet my dad they say he sounds like Ricardo Montalban but I don't hear it.
