On his podcast, Bill Simmons said there are only 6 players you wouldn’t trade for Zion: Curry, Jokic, Doncic, Harden, Embiid, and Giannis. He was on the fence with Lillard. I def wouldn’t trade Dame for Zion but I agree with his list. LeBron, AD, KD, Kyrie? You better believe I’d trade them for Zion right now.

I'd trade Doncic for Zion. Lillard too. Possibly Embiid as well (I don't trust his health).

Kingspeed, for the good of the forum could you try taking HCP off of ignore? There is a thread about Zion (that he started) that this would be a perfect addition to but instead we have to have the similar conversations in different threads because some people can't see others post.

Yes @KingSpeed.

This.

Embiid I understand but if you’re Dallas, no way you trade Doncic for anyone really. He had shown MVP potential in the NBA and he’s 20. Zion could be glorified Wiggins. We don’t know. I def wouldn’t trade Dame for an unknown quantity who might see himself playing elsewhere in the future.

Doncic is a great talent, but he's not in the untradeable category to me, not when it comes to acquring a "generational prospect" (the greatest prospects come along every 4-6 years, not once per generation, but still). I agree with PtldPatypus that Embiid isn't either.

Doncic wasn’t a generational prospect?? Say what?

Wow really? Why didn’t anyone tell me about this? This is honestly the first time I heard of it. Does he not know how ignore works? I’ll read it now. Someone should’ve told me.

Hey @KingSpeed I learned earlier today that you no longer have me blocked. That made me feel good. I never really remember what caused all the friction between the two of the OBVIOUS forum MVPs. I do remember hooking you up with tickets on the road and getting our guys to mention you and even interview you on our broadcasts though. I also remember you posting on here how hot you thought I was, so there's that! So it never quite sat right with me where the hate came from.
Anyway, this is an olive branch I'm sending your way to keep me UNBLOCKED. You are missing so much quality content from me. Don't you want to know my opinions on all things RipCity? Together we could take this forum back over. #23Wins

Nope. Not on the level of Anthony Davis, Greg Oden/Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O'Neal, etc. Not even close. Beyond just perceptions (and I never saw a single analyst put him in that company), he went #3 and that team traded him for another prospect in the draft and a future pick. None of the aforementioned prospects would have been traded for anything short of an in-prime superstar (if traded at all).

It would be great if the culmination of this thread became @ThePosterFormerlyKnownAsTheHCP 's Zion thread and @KingSpeed's Zion thread merged!

Jordan went #3

At least 10 people tried to tell you or tag you in posts.
No one told me. What do you mean by tagging? I don’t read my alerts. Is that where I see that? No one PMed me or texted me, something HCP could’ve done but instead he makes a grand gesture for you guys instead of to me.

I wouldnt Give up Dame for Zion. I would never ever give up an established Star for a #1 no matter how good I think they might be. People thought Wiggins was a generational talent too, and Minnesota traded Love for him and basically just got worse, which they werent that good to begin with.

He made a grand gesture to you.

You're in the minority of forum members who don't respond to tagging or alerts.

No they didn't. He was the consensus #1 but folks weren't talking that generational talk.

Read it more closely....

Generational as in daddy Curry and daddy Hardaway to sons,Stephen and Tim Jr.
The first link, though, supports TBFs point--that people were calling Wiggins a "once-in-a-generation talent", and referring to him as "the best since Lebron".

However, they were saying that before he played at Kansas, not because of his work in college, as is the case with Zion. Wiggins is more comparable to Barrett.

I know that, but there's more to it. Here's some more.

I mean there is a lot out there on his pre-draft stuff...

My point though is that every soon to be #1 pick especially when they're pretty clear cut the #1 guy gets a LOT of hype, and heck it's deserved, but last year people were saying Ayton was Like Tim Duncan and KG combined, he's good but no, and I wouldn't have traded Dame for him.

This year it's Zion and the guy looks to be really freaking good, and people are filling the airwaves with hyperbole like they always do. I still wouldn't give up an established top 5-10ish player in the NBA for him though.

Jordan went #3

Jordan wasn't considered the no-doubt top prospect. Probably, he should have been, but the league still considered big men more important. Olajuwon was the big prospect in the draft--the coin flip was "for Olajuwon."
