1 Reasons the Trail Blazers Offense Can’t Score

No !! We can't get rid of Vonleh or Davis. They are the future of our power forward game. We need to keep Napier too. I am anxious to see more of Swanigan and Collins though
Davis isn't the future of anything - he's purely a stop-gap until we get a second player capable of joining Vonleh as our PF rotation. Davis has reached his ceiling, and it's a pretty low ceiling. I like the dude, but there's no reason to re-sign him for anything more than the MLE.

I know that PER is not the end all be all, but it shows how much CJ has dropped off from last year, or hell, the year before that.

My eyes say Davis is important to this team. He has a basketball sense of timing that can't be taught, it's instinctive and I think the Blazers would do well to keep that around.

I think with Nurkic out we need to try putting Turner back in the post. Start (gulp) Leonard (or if you're feeling really brave, Zach), and you've got a floor-spacing five, so you can afford to put your wing in the post. That should help. Turner is the same player he was when Brad Stevens made him a useful cog in a powerful offense.

Spending time with Melo this summer went to his head.

Without Ed's offensive rebounding, we'd be horrible. He's a role player with a definable role that he's elite at. And he likes Portland.

I like aminu at the back up 4 more than Davis.

I don't think Davis or Vonleh is on this roster next year though.
Perhaps not.

If it were up to me, my front court rotation would be Nurk/Vonleh and Meyers/Collins. Ed and Caleb would be trade bait for a SF. Ed especially may have some immediate value to a contender.

In before @Mediocre Man ...

This is the only eye test Meyers Leonard will ever pass:

I do not think he can pass that test.

The player on our roster with the closest match to the skills that counter this defense will make everyone here scream in pain. It's Meyers Leonard.

Leonard hits the three, but he's also decent midrange. He gives you a second player to set screens, and a reason why you can't just double Nurk down low. Now, Olshey's goal should be getting two players who do any or all of those things better than Meyers does, but honestly, starting Meyers, Patty, and Nurkic might be crazy enough to work once or twice.

Boosting that "trade value".

The Aminu defenders always point out how he wins us games when he's on, but this thread highlights how bad of a strategy that is...because opponents are willing to take that chance, knowing he'll lose us 3 out of 4 games.

I disagree. Stotts just needs to play him at the 3 IMO.

He's literally the best backup big in the league. He does EVERY bit of our dirty work. And yes I'd keep him over Vonleh.

I think we should look to move Vonleh.

It wouldn't change the cringe-worthy shooting and ball handling, but it would balance the floor better. In theory at least, since we rarely get to see it.

reason....giving the ball to the other team so you have to play nothing but defense for 3 or 4 possession...then doing it all over again...turnovers

There are many reasons...

Nurks usg% to efficiency ratio, lack of spacing, lack of reliable handlers/decision makers, too many 2-big lineups that feature no spread option (Vonleh+Nurkic, Harkless+Nurkic, Harkless+Davis...etc), Hark and ET underperforming...

People are quick to complain about Stotts when it comes to the offense, but no coach is coaxing out a top 10 offense with this group the way it's currently constructed/performing. With that said, I think we can get to roughly league average, but it'll take some role re-working and some positive regression from some of our role players.
