If Oregon is the Pac 12 champ and the other was runner up I think so. The Pac has 4 teams in the top 13 or so right now. I think if you come out undefeated in the Pac with the only loss at Georgia, yeah I think hte BIG 10 team falls outside the top 5
That's a good argument. I think you might be right.

If they end up beating UCLA, WA, Utah, OSU & SC in CCG, that would be impressive and tough to overlook if another team had 1 conference loss?

But would a 1 loss BIG10 team fall behind a 1 loss PAC12 team when that PAC12 team was blown like the Ducks were?
This is the problem with college football and it's the sport I enjoy the most. Georgia assuming they win out in the regular season and even if they lose in the SEC championship game is most likely in. The winner of Ohio State/Michigan is in and I really think Tennessee is in as long as they don't slip up again. Now it comes down to is a 1 loss Oregon that got the doors blown off them by Georgia better than a one loss OSU/Mich ... or an unbeaten/1 loss TCU ... or an Ole Miss that runs the table (though I really don't think they take 3 SEC schools). There is a spot for the P12 or B12 as Clemson losing was bigger than any other result for the playoff situation.

Agree, if Oregon has no conference loss and they win out with some impressive play they have a good chance.

The solution is extremely easy and yet the powers that be don't want to go to it, make it an 8 team playoff. Take the 5 conference champions, the highest ranked G5 team and then two at large teams. Now everyone has something to play for and a team like Oregon (good lord I pray they don't get in) still has a shot even after getting curb stomped in their opening game. Instead they want to jump to 12 teams with byes worked in and making it unnecessarily complicated.

Yeah, 8 seems like a good number. I think 12 will be ok though.

Both are far better than 4...
