In a bizarro way flipping Harris to us for Miller will help the Nuggets out in the long term from a salary perspective, but I just can't see them swallowing the idea of helping out a division rival. I'll frankly be shocked if we get him.

I really don't think there's some emotional investment in GMs to "not help a division rival." I think they're largely focused on their own fortunes. If they felt a deal would harm them by helping a division rival, that's one thing...but if Denver does this deal, they're ending their competitiveness for the short-term, so I doubt they much care about how good Portland is. What do they care whether Portland or Utah is on top when they're not in it? For that matter, what do they care whether Portland or LA or San Antonio (the latter two not divisional foes) are doing well, during a non-competitive cycle for them?

I'm not even a huge Batum lover, but it doesn't seem like Favors is much more special than Batum.

True enough...but there is about 3" and 50lbs more of him!

When your GF said size doesn't matter - she was just being kind. :devilwink:

If the Blazers could somehow get Favors, would you start Aldridge at center with Favors at the four?

Yeah. There really is no big dominating C's in the league outside of Dwight. I think Aldridge can hang with just about any other Center really.

Favors and Aldridge could turn into the most dominating front court in the league.

This year, doesn't seem like Favors is ready. Next year, maybe so.

He's still really raw, but I think when he puts it all together he's going to be like Amare

Even as a raw rookie, he's rebounding at a high level, scoring efficiently and his team isn't giving up too many points when he's on the court (his DRtg is okay, though far from great). His main problem right now is a pretty absurd turnover rate for a guy who doesn't handle the ball.

Still, overall he has an average PER. I think he could start for the Blazers this year if the team gave up Camby. If the Blazers keep Camby, then Favors would be a great backup big for this year with big potential for the future.

I could start for the Blazers if they gave up Camby, Aldridge, Przybilla, Cunningham, Batum, Miller, Mills, Johnson, Matthews, Fernandez, Babbitt, and last but not least, Marks. And if they then refused to sign anyone with any more talent than me. It's a long shot but I am hopeful.

So there we go. We have defined the basketball difference between you and Derrick Favors, without the use of a single statistic, advanced or otherwise.

Favors can start for this team if Camby isn't here and you can for this team if Camby, Aldridge, Przybilla, Cunningham, Batum, Miller, Mills, Johnson, Matthews, Fernandez, Babbitt and Marks aren't here. And no one else was signed. And everyone else on the planet were dead. And Denny is right about life elsewhere in the universe being unpossible, as proven by there being no aliens captured and placed in the local zoo.

Now that is true basketball analysis.

Everyone else doesn't need to be dead. Just uninterested in playing professional basketball, or severely crippled.

sorry barfo but if they're going to pick you, I will have to give them a call. I need money and I'd be happy to sit on a bench and collect some coin.

If we got favors Camby could get us Jeff green from OKC, we'd have to pay him but he's available.

I don't know what good a tweener like Green is going to do for us? His 3 point percentages (and overall percentages) fall every year and he's posting his third straight year with a PER in the 13 range.

I'd love to get Favors, he and LMA would be a great tandem. Would be very hard for me to believe that Denver would move him for Batum and change, but who knows.

I don't think they would either. I think their ideal plan would be to build around Favors, Batum and Lawson, and ship Harris out for Batum. I would think Portland could get a deal done with expirings and picks though.

yep, I don't see us sending out Batum in a Harris deal. I could see a Miller/Rudy or Babbit, and a 1sr rdr or perhaps a guy like Claver for harris.

I find it interesting that Portland is apparently shopping both Miller and Camby. They obviously believe both guys are extremely desirable right now, with the trade deadline approaching, and they want to use their best trading chips to get a deal done. However, Miller and Camby have been integral to our success this year, and you run the risk of taking a step backwards by getting rid of them. Camby has been a beast on the boards, and a great shotblocker, and Miller has been the best guy on the team at feeding Aldridge.

So, while I like using our best trading chips to make ourselves better, I'm not sure Cho can actually pull it off.

I can see us either taking back another bad contract like Al Harrington in a deal if they main objective is to shed salary. Camby + draft pick for Harris & Harrington is close salay wise.

The thought would be taking a step back this year.....which is going nowhere, to be able to take a step forward next year

Right, but as I stated in another thread, I think we can still do some damage this year. I'd hate to see this season sacrificed for the idea that we "might" be better next year.

That said, I do realize that Miller and Camby don't have that many years left, and this may be the best time to get maximum value for them. Tough call.

can't see then wanting Camby since his contract runs thru next yr, Miller and Przy would work would it not?

most recent repors have Al Harrington as the hold up in the trade - Denver wants him included.

Big question here - would you take Harrington to land Devin Harris? We trade Miller and Przy for Harrington and Harris. The last two years of Harrington's deal are only 50% guaranteed. It does also solve our backup PF role - but not "cheaply".

I'd do it, would you?

We are all but a .500 team this year. We will probabl;y make the playoffs because everyone elase below us sucks, but damage....really?
