2 weeks

Yes, they did say "two weeks.". Problem is now we're going to play well the next two weeks ago and they won't make the deals we need to improve the team going forward.

As if the deals are just lining up waiting to be had...

Re: making a move next summer.

If the NBA follows precedent, no trades, FA signings, etc, will be allowed until the new CBA is signed.

In other words, if the team doesn't make moves now, they may be stuck on hold until the summer of 2012.

Sure there are. There are some decent players in Cleveland that would improve our team. There are other players too. Miller and Przybilla are valuable trading assets.

Miller and Przybilla for Chris Bosh. Solves all Miami's problems (lack of a real point guard, lack of physicality up front) and gives Portland another long-term piece to build around.

Perfect! Make it happen, Cho.

I think Aldridge has some legit resources in the team offices. The thing is, even if the team wants to do something, they may not be able to do something. It takes at least 2 teams to make a trade happen.

The other thing that I would throw out there is the possibility that Lamarcus might be the odd guy out. He still has a lot of value through out the league, but if you are going to move forward and not count on Greg Oden ever coming back, you need to get more physical up front. Lamarcus would probably be fine if teamed with Oden and the spacing worked out. But as is, the team lacks physical toughness and Lamarcus does not and will not ever bring that to the table. Meanwhile there are teams like New Jersey who are looking for somebody to open space for Brook Lopez who have been rumored to want to trade Favors, who is almost the exact opposite of Aldridge. He plays almost exclusively in the paint.

You hit the nail on the head. I would do a Favors for Aldridge swap in a second. A lot of posters in this forum haven't watched Favors play and outside of Blazers basketball they are clueless to whats going on around the league.

Favors is a throwback, lunchpail in the paint type that battles for rebounds and is just scraping the surface at 19 years old of what he's capable of. The guy is going to be a solid, solid NBA player.

What current/former player would you compare him to?

By MIXUM not answering the question, I would say he has not watched him.

They may very well beat the Suns since without Robyn Lopez that team is pretty bad but I don't see them beating either Dallas or San Antonio.

The Grizzlies are a coin flip.

My guess is they go 1 and 3 over the next 4 games putting them 2 games under .500.

Not sure if Paul Allen thinks a team in the running for a high lottery pick is good enough to leave intact.

Elton Brand of like 5 or 6 years ago with a less polished offensive game.

I have watched them a handful of times, but never the entire game. Favors only plays around 20 minutes a game anyway and have just not noticed him. The Yes network has some pretty crappy camera work as well. Have the DVR set for Sunday's game though.

The YES network has the best announcers though.

Favors is still extremely raw, but a gifted athlete and very strong. Give him some time, he'll be a good one.

I keep thinking that there's no way in hell that New Jersey would trade Favors for LMA, but if they really do get spurned by Melo (in that he would refuse to sign an extension as part of a trade) then from New Jersey's perspective getting a veteran 4, floor spacing big man like Lamarcus paired up with Lopez and a speedy point guard like Harris ... That might actually be attractive from their perspective, especially if they feel like Favors is several years away from being reliable as a full-time starter.

I dunno, it's an insteresting thought.

Sounds like the new Russian owner is in a win now mode. We'll see. I'm anxious for the trade deadline.
