I misread your post anyway. He is a LB waiting to happen. I think it would be foolish to try and recruit against some school that wants to make him the next Brian Urlacher

Yeah, that's why I'm curious how he feels about being labeled a TE/WR and not a LB?

With the Ducks running attack I love the idea of having big fast receivers to assist in downfield blocking as well as playmaking... bring on French Colt and Farmer! I've not read that Colt has a positional preference but rather is open to whatever is his best shot at being successful after college. I'd imagine that being as talented as he's supposed to be that Oregon would let him be a S/WR/DE/TE/LB if thats what he had his heart set on.

btw... lots of rumors of another commit or even two happening later today

Don't get me wrong... I love the idea of another big, physical TE. It's sort of an Oregon calling card.

Where do you see these rumors?

What site should I be looking at

Justin Hopkins of Duckterritory said he's been talking to a lot of recruits, and the Ducks could see upwards to 5 commits in the next two weeks.

Per twitter, Justin Hopkins says 4 star DE Jeoffrey Pagan has de-committed from Florida and is considering Oregon.

Here is the confirmation story of him de-committing.

Here is his scout page

*Yes I know it doesn't say Oregon on that scout page, but he has said Oregon is one of the schools he will look at.

Man, it's exciting to hear all these good recruits showing interest in the Ducks.

Randall will be ineligible? I guess this question could be for STOMP as he has the rivals board... but I was reading on the 24.7 sports board that Da-O goes on and I was reading these comments in it.

Mariota looks great, he def has all the tools to be a baller in our system. His commitment is especially important because there is a good chance that Randall wont qualify.

This is the first Ive heard about Randall's grades being an issue. Can anyone please elaborate as I hope this is not the case.

Socal from what I have read, he is JC all the way, and will not be coming to UO due to grades and possibly behavioral problems

Have you heard rumblings about this? I havent heard any of that till today.

yeah, lots of chatter about JR's grades... but then there previously was chatter about Colt's that he countered with a quote recently. I have no real idea whats really what with any of the prospect's ability to qualify

Cool thanks. Just wondering if there was anything behind that

Yeah, I remember hearing that about Colt. So he set the record straight?

Updates From O-Live

Lots of rumors flying, and at this point, they're just that but, some of them seem to have some legs. Todd Barr, the defensive lineman from Lakewood, CA appears to possibly be leaning toward the Ducks. Also strongly considering the Ducks are linebacker Jason Gibson and safety Marquis Lee. Any of those could verbal soon.

Nose tackle Danny Shelton favors Oregon over Washington but his mother has yet to visit the Oregon campus and as a result, leans toward her son going to the Huskies. He's planning to bring her to Eugene in December, and then sit down and make a decision. Shelton says that's likely to happen in January.

Brendon Bigelow, the running back from Fresno also visited last weekend, loved his trip and while he's verballed to UW he appears to have the Ducks, UW, and Cal as his final choices. If Bigelow came in he would almost definitely red shirt because he's currently rehabbing his knee. Any back would I believe, but with Bigelow its probably a given. He also recently said that the spread offense is something he wants to play in at the next level. Well, of the three, there you go. Go Ducks. Prior to his injury he was widely believed to be the best back in the West this year. In a year or two, he'll be even better I think.

Kevin McReynolds, the DT from DC, visits Oregon January 14th. Gee, 4 days after a potential title game for the Ducks. And Oregon opens Matt Court the 15th. At that game you can expect all kinds of things, and maybe a bow from the .......winning team? We can only hope. What a great recruiting weekend that would be....wow.

I also expect Oregon to land Mo Latu from Arizona. Mostly on what I read and the between the lines stuff but he really likes Oregon. Maybe he stays put in Arizona but Rowland and those guys have been pushing him hard and he really likes Oregon and he hasn't even visited yet.

At receiver the Ducks are in good shape with Devon Blackmon, Rahsaan Vaughn and BJ Kelley. Two of those three would really help to go along with Tacoi Sumler who has already committed.

Lots of shifts between here and there of course but Oregon's in line to land it's best class ever. And I didn't even mention Colt Lyerla or Brennan Scarlett. Scarlett seems Stanford bound. Maybe not, but it just seems like he's a Cardinal lean. Lyerla is still taking trips and looking around but he's been in Eugene plenty as you'd expect.

I would like to have some more commits before the mNC. We'll see.

Any recruiting updates are appreciated. Thanks, STOMP.

Yeah, thanks to Da_O, STOMP, and Wheels for all the updates. Much appreciated.

Teddy Bridgewater decommited from Miami recently. Does Oregon have any chance with him? We should go after him if Randall won't be able to make it (I hope to God Randall's grades are okay).

The Ducks won't know if Randall qualifies until after signing day. That verbal is going to stand unless Randall starts to waver.

a thought on the Randall grades concerns. Every Duck recruiting class has seemed to have 2-4 guys who ink on LOI day but never make it to school usually because of grades... every class but last year's. Chip's first recruiting class featured 23 student athletes and all but Issac Dixon are currently enrolled. Dixon is supposed to have the grades but is grey shirting to preserve eligibility as he rehabs a torn up knee. With stories of Kelly unexpectedly waiting outside player's classes to make sure they're showing up on time and a healthy showing of Ducks on the conference All-Academic teams, it would strike me as odd that they'd waste much time on a prospect that had little chance of qualifying especially considering the program is pretty hot right now and would seem to be able to target guys they want much more so then past years. Whats the chances of their staff being unaware of a prospects academic standing?

...we shall see

Randall plans on majoring in business management and reports a 2.7 core GPA and and a 19 ACT, which he plans on retaking.

This is on Randall's scout.com profile.

It is possible that he is too good of a talent to pass up.
whats the school's benefit from going after a guy that isn't going to qualify? That would seem to remove him from the list of their prospects regardless of his talents

According to his facebook account, 4* Safety Avery Walls will announce next Tuesday about 6:30AM our time

As much as I love watching our offense, my favorite part of the game is a solid defensive effort. I love seeing the Ducks lock up some great defensive talents, especially in the secondary.

Another Ngata would be nice. Imagine if Suh had gone to Eugene instead of Lincoln. A college DT who takes up 2 blockers is a rarity. Auburn has Fairley, but luckily the Ducks got practice against an elite DT by playing against Paea.

Walls seems like a guy who likes to hit people hard. I love that in a safety
