Oh excuse me. It's not this weekend. The story reads, "Receiver sets official visit."

I don't know when the visit is.
I've read that BJ Kelley is visiting 1/14/11

also via Scout, surprisingly UO has emerged as the leader for stud Linebacker Lamar Dawson

Dang starting to round up nicely indeed! Right on par with (T)OSU with avg stars of recruits. Cal really held us back from going higher, but with the possible loss of their recruiting guru... I hope that could help us even more! :) (yes I am getting greedy)

updated the Original Post with all the Current Commits, sorry for being so slow on these.

also Tyler Johnstone has been bumped up to 4* by both Rivals and Scout. Changed the post to reflect the change.

I think that all of us (relatively) new recruiting fans get a little frustrated that Oregon's class isn't rated higher... but what about Auburn?

They've been a power in the SEC (off and on) for decades, and they're the #1 team after an undefeated season... and they're not in the top 20, but Clemson and UNC are in the top 10.

Clearly rankings aren't everything, and clearly there's a lag between on-field and recruiting results, but that still strikes me as odd.

Auburn's 2011 class is ranked just outside of the top 20 mostly because of the low number of recruits that they have so far. While they don't have as many guys signed yet as most of those ranked above them, rivals ranks what recruits they do have comparably to the Ducks and tOSU so while they lack in quantity they do well with quality. I understand that in their ratings rivals uses the top 20 rated guys and the Tigers have just 14 thus far

on another note, big 4* Washington DT Danny Shelton is to announce his intentions this Friday during the Versus television broadcast of the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl. The game starts at 1 pm... recruiting insiders from his two final schools (UO & UW) claim to be pretty confident so :dunno:

I did a little research.. much at the expense of my work sitting in front of me lol. I looked at Rivals Recruiting rankings for the teams who played in the BCS Championship Game. Both for the class the year of (Before their championship season started) And the Class signed right after the BCS NC game was over. I did this for both the winner, and the loser of the BCS game. I only went back to 2002 as thats as far as the Rivals rankings would go back.

First for the Winners:
2002: (t)OSU: Class rank before= #5, Class rank after = #41, - 36 Spots
2003: LSU: Class rank before = #1, Class rank after = #2, - 1 spot
2004: USC: Class rank before = #1, Class rank after = #1, No change
2005: Tex: Class ranks before = #20, Class rank after = #5, + 20 spots
2006: UF: Class rank before = #2, Class rank after = #1, +1 Spot
2007: LSU: Class rank before = #4, Class rank after = #11, - 7 spots
2008: UF: Class rank before = #3, Class rank after = #11, -8 Spots
2009: Ala: Class rank before = #1, Class rank after = #5, -4 Spots

Avg Change for each winner = - 4.375 Spots

Avg Change for each winner not including OSU (cause I dont know what the hell happened there = + 0.143 Spots

Now lets look at the Runners Up
2002: MIA: Class rank before = #8, Class rank after = #5, + 3 Spots
2003: OKL: Class rank before = #4, Class rank after = #8, -4 spots
2004: OKL: Class rank before = #8, Class rank after = #3, + 5 Spots
2005: USC: Class rank before = #1, Class rank after = #1, No change
2006: (t)OSU: Class rank before = #12, Class rank after = #15 -3 Spots
2007: (t)OSU: Class rank before = #15, Class rank after = #4, +11 Spots
2008: OKL: Class rank before = #6, Class rank after = #3, +3 Spots
2009: Tex: Class rank before = #5, Class rank after = #3, +3 Chances

Avg Change of each Runner Up = +2.25

There are a couple things that I took from this, Current success of a team might not make a huge difference, cause as one recruit put it "You cant choose based on where they are in the Rankings now, cause they might not be there in 3 to 5 years"

But also these are traditional College Football powers so they arent bound to change much in the rankings.

We are truly in uncharted territory with these two schools in the BCS NC game. So we might not be able to tell the affects of this in the rankings until after this game, and on LOI day in Feb. All I know is recruiting has been on the up for Oregon the last few years, and I'm loving it! :)

Funny how he took down the pic of him in all Oregon stuff... I knew that kid was flaky.

his background is still him in the Duck gear, although its kinda covered.

"expect the unexpected"

not sure if thats a good thing or bad thing lol

I hope so. Although he has seemed like an Oregon lean since his visit. Hopefully that isnt the "expected"

He better expect some boos if he goes to USC. Oregon fans will probably remember that bullshit tweet about committing if he got 1,000 followers.

Catching Up with some UA All Americans who are on Oregon's list.

Devon Blackmon (Fontana, Calif./Summit)
Ht.: 6-0 | Wt.: 180 | ESPNU 150: 39 | WR rank: 4 | Stars: 4
Considering: Oregon, UCLA and USC
Has visited: Oregon (Nov. 5)
Will visit: USC (Jan. 14) and UCLA (Jan. 21)
Where do things stand now: "It's down to those three schools and it will likely come down to how the visits go," Blackmon said. "Right now I really don't have a favorite."

Christian Heyward (San Diego, Calif./Point Loma)
Ht.: 6-2 | Wt.: 275 | ESPNU 150: 110 | DT rank: 9 | Stars: 4
Considering: Oregon, San Diego State, UCLA and USC
Has visited: USC (Dec. 10)
Will visit: UCLA (Jan. 14), Oregon (Jan. 21), San Diego State (Jan. 28)
Where do things stand now: This is shaping up to be a battle between the Trojans and Ducks.

Mo Latu (Gilbert, Ariz./Perry)
Ht.: 6-3 | Wt.: 305 | ESPNU 150: NR | C rank: 5 | Stars: 3
Considering: Arizona State, Oregon, Missouri and Fresno State
Has visited: Arizona State (Sept. 5) and Colorado State (Oct. 16)
Will visit: Latu will visit Oregon and Missouri next month for sure but he hasn't set up dates yet.
Where do things stand now: "Right now I would say that ASU and Oregon are tied and Missouri is right behind them," Latu said. "I know Oregon wants me up there for my last visit."

Marqise Lee (Gardena, Calif./Junipero Serra)
Ht.: 6-1 | Wt.: 190 | ESPNU 150: 96 | ATH rank: 13 | Stars: 4
Considering: Oregon and USC
Has visited: Oregon (Nov. 5)
Will visit: USC (Jan. 14)
Where do things stand now: This is another big battle and a tight race between Southern California and Oregon. Lee says he would like to leave the state and that news could bode well for the Ducks. UCLA also could sneak in a visit before it's all said and done.

Kevin McReynolds (Washington, D.C./Saint John's College)
Ht.: 6-2 | Wt.: 276 | ESPNU 150: NR | DT rank: 26 | Stars: 4
Considering: Oregon, South Carolina, Syracuse, UCLA
Has visited: UCLA (Dec. 10) and Syracuse (Dec. 17)
Will visit: Oregon (Jan. 14) and South Carolina (Jan. 28)
Where do things stand now: Don't be surprised if McReynolds lands out west or up north. He raved about both of his visits to UCLA and Syracuse. Of course, there's a coaching change nearby at Maryland and that could play into his decision.

not sure about Blackmon saying no favorite. I wasnt aware of the comment by Marqise Lee though.

he's still wearing an Oregon tracksuit on his twitter wallpaper

http://twitter.com/D_BLACK12

further tea leaves indicating Oregon are that if he's to announce during the UA game as per his recent tweet, then Oregon will be the only school that he's done an OV to

It's a trick. No matter what you expect, he'll do something different.

damn 17 year old Jedi mind trick! I swear to Goodness. His midichlorian count is higher than I thought!

The kid is an attention whore, so he'll say or do whatever he can to draw attention to himself.
