Did you see Shelly smith's tweet? USC alums are calling Thomas trying to get him to stay. That is so stupid because now they can't really sign him if he did change his mind....Then again, USC doesn't really play by the rules anyway.

I find it hilarious that those idiots would be doing that when the NCAA is considering their appeal. It's basically an NFL program at this point. How long until Lane gets in NCAA trouble?

jackson and Simmons just chose Texas Tech and North Carolina respectively. Both shockers IMO. We need to land Heyward somehow

Anthony Wallace LOI in, very important one IMO

That is a huge one. I was never convinced he was a lock for Oregon

That literally leaves no DL for Oregon. Ebert, Lake and Kamp could be worse I guess. Possibly Colt or French on the DE as well

a lot worse... see my post yesterday. They got some new studs coming in and I suspect Simmons or Heyward would have redshirted like Lake and Kamp will be. Next year will be a different story.

btw... Christian French LOI has arrived!

I heard about French, that is awesome. What new studs on the DL do they have coming in?

Colt
IFO
DAT

Those three and if nothing else happens I will be elated

my speculation is that top DLine guys were looking at probably redshirting next year and then still likely being backups to the established rotation the following season. Next year's cycle will only feature a one year wait so the opportunity in Eugene will have improved. Now add on that the NCAA hammer will finally have fallen on USC and they'll have a very limited amount of scholarships to offer and Oregon will probably be coming off of another solid to great season.

it's a great time to be a Duck

so stoked on this one... Marcus Mariota!

Randall is questionable getting in with his SATs and MM looks like a perfect Duck QB prospect.

IFO!

okay, my beer is gone and most of the birds in the bush are now in hand so I'm taking off on a bike ride. Should be super fun with the UO presser at 3PM seeing DAT tonight @ 7!

Shelley Smith is on ESPNU saying that USC is furiously trying to convince Thomas and Blackwell to stay with the Trojans.

I'd like to know exactly who is doing this convincing, and who is leaking that info to Shelley Smith? Do NCAA rules even matter at SC?

Will Lane Kiffen crash DAT's signing party and forcibly make DAT sign with USC? Leaking info to ESPN to try and communicate with recruits seems desperate, doesn't it?

It seems much more likely that people close to Thomas and Blackwell would be telling Smith that than that USC would be leaking it themselves.

I thought that initially, but then I thought further about who would get more out of using ESPN as a mouthpiece. Smith said nothing about Oregon.

I really hated USC. They're the college equivalent to the Lakers.

Has there been any unexpectedly good news?

It seems like Byers to Clemson (which seems to be having a GREAT day) is bad news in an unexpected way.

I know the bar is being set high, but I was hoping for a good surprise or two...

I like Ebert. He seems solid and quick. Good pursuit. Solid gap filler - to be determined.

Lake is a true DE. I hope we aren't so thin that we take great DE's and turn them into adequate DT's. Dangit, I'm coveting a few DT's like Moala, Simmons, and Jenkins.

Hey, Jenkins hasn't signed yet. You never know....he's got an Oregon offer. I know, he said he'd only play in the South. Man, a 340# gap filler like him would be an asset.

depends on how you look at it. There havent been any surprises today like Heimuli was last year. But DeAnthony Thomas if they get him, has been described by some people who cover recruiting as the biggest recruiting coup in the last 8 years. It just isnt as much of a surprise cause of the few days of coverage that it has gotten. But if this all came as a surprise today, instead of a couple days ago. It would be all that would be talked about by all the recruiting services. The only higher overall recruit this school has gotten (this decade) was Ngata... and Ngata was only 3 spots higher on the overall board.

OK I just signed a letter stating that yes I want to play for the Ducks but I don't know where to fax it to. Does anyone have Chip's fax number?

The butthurt Usc fans are hilarious. I hope Thomas was originally going to go there, but after having seen what was being said about him, changed his mind to coming here.

Some of it is just downright vicious. If he does end up at USC, there will have to be an awkward period of reconciliation.

I wonder how many briefcases of money have been sent to Thomas' house?
