I love you too Da_O

he's been rumored to be a silent/heavy lean for a couple weeks now which would explain why Oregon cut bait on a couple high profile DBs recently. Dude's highlights are really worth a look. From what I hear that will push both of the twins to CB.

from what I gather, Oregon is high on Buckner's wish list so he'll be out when he can. HS football playoff games have been getting in the way.

From today's ESPN Recruiting Blog:

“I’m going to Cal (Dec. 9) and UCLA (Jan 13),” Buckner said. “I have a home visit next week with Coach Azz [Jerry Azzinaro] at Oregon and we’re going to lock in my visit at that time. These are my main three schools and really the only ones I’m considering right now.”

You gotta think that he's not gonna be encouraged by UCLA's coaching change...

In a blog entry today, ESPN reported that Oregon told Randy Uzoma that they didn't want him to come out and visit (after postponing twice). His coach said, "Oregon recently filled up." It also listed him as a visit this past weekend, so... it's not entirely clear if he went or not.

In a blog entry yesterday, ESPN reported that Jeremy Castro had this to say about his visit to UW for the Apple Cup:

“Coach [Demetrice] Martin is the coach who has been recruiting me for a while and we have a real good relationship. I could tell the staff was still a little hurt that I committed there and then de-committed but they were still real cool with me. Although I loved the visit, I’m sticking with Oregon. I’m solid in my commitment and I plan to be a Duck and will be signing with them in February.”

The ASU weekend turned out to be a pretty big success.

Jeremy Castro, Bryce Cotrell and now Reggie Daniels have all committed.

That leaves Shaq Thompson, DJ Foster and Ellis McCarthy as the three that haven't. It looks like Shaq's shipped has sailed, but neither McCarthy nor Foster have taken an official visit since that Oct 24 weekend...

true but... even prior to that, if a recruit is seriously considering UCLA they are probably looking at things outside the football program.

Maybe he's a surfer ;)

Actually everyone is saying Kevon Seymour. That would be huge. The only info I'm getting is he's a recruit that doesn't give many interviews, and if that's so that fits Seymour based on what I've heard.

Seymour has been to Oregon twice... I guess maybe he needs convincing? How common is it for a recruit to use two of his OVs with one school?

Not sure. He did take two OV's to Washington as well.

He said this after his last visit here.
"Oregon was a great visit and I loved the family atmosphere," Seymour said. "Oregon is way different than almost all of the other schools. Eugene is smaller and I enjoyed it. It's a good different. I talk with coach (John) Neal every week and we have a great relationship. We talk about so much more than just football."

"Washington was good too but it was cold. Coach (Demetrice) Martin is recruiting me and we also have a good relationship. Seattle is a lot bigger, more like I'm used to here in Pasadena."

Some people consider him a strong USC lean even though he says he's considering all of his finalists

 Thanks Pal. I was going to try and break it as soon as it broke but I got a little hooked on the episode of Breaking Bad I was watching.

Anyways, this is a great get and everything I keep hearing from the guy is great.

Here's a youtube video if anybody else is curious about the guy.

insteresting that Daniels is now a 3* on Rivals but 5.7 just under most 4* stuff.

Rivals was scheduled to do an update on their rankings the day after Daniels committed. It's purely coincidental that he was moved down a star. However, it is strange that Daniels is a 3 star and is ranked as the #16 ranked safety on there while the #17 ranked safety on Rivals, De'van Bogard, is a 4 star.

Wow. In one day, he went from a 4* to a 3*. Amazing!!

They have him ranked at #16 nationally at S, and #17 is a 4*.

Seems very odd, huh? :)

the rivals board discussed this today. The site has been doing the latest round of reevaluations in the past week releasing a new top 100 & 250 player lists. Apparently Reggie was a borderline 4* before his Sr. year and was jumped by a few others and is now rated a high 3*. It's a coincidence that he committed the day before those new lists came out. Duck commits rated in the top 250 moved subtlety up and down, and Terrence Daniel finally received a rating... he's a 3* too

As far as the anomaly that Ed noted about the #17 Safety, check back in a couple days and he'll probably be listed as a 3* too. Not sure if ya'll can access this link, but it's an article talking about player movement in their ratings

Thank you though Stomp for that clarification :)

What do you all think about Gehrig Dieter?

Good size, incredible production, allegedly pretty fast (4.5 on ESPN.com). ESPN blogged this yesterday:

Oregon dropped out of the picture temporarily after meeting with Dieter at his high school during the season, but receivers coach Scott Frost contacted Dieter recently to set up the official visit.

And the link Targus posted, above, had said about Dieter:

an official visit will be made to Oregon the weekend of Dec. 9. While not currently holding an offer from the Ducks, Dieter has said the staff has told him multiple times to hold off making a decision until after he visits Oregon. If Dieter leaves Eugene without an offer or isn’t extended one shortly after, he probably won’t get one. But if he does land an offer, expect him to commit shortly after.

He looks really good on paper... and Auburn, Florida and Oregon have all showed interest (although haven't offered him).

He seems more of a mystery than a lot of these guys.

speed and attitude are said to be issues.

In other news, DJ Foster is supposed to be delaying yet again and has scheduled an OV at USC. I'm pretty sure he's already visited there before unofficially.

I just spent some time reading his Twitter feed and... he seems to young. Haha.

That's frustrating. I wonder if Oregon's reportedly renewed interest in Dieter is at all linked to that.

Yea beating USC was really important! Dominance over the Trojans in front of 5* recruits would have really helped the Quack in the off season. Now with USC off probation and Kiffen spinning his BS, this could be costly to us. Pisses me off we didn't focus more on that game and started so late. Let's hope it doesn't bite us in the ass next year!

All I have from him is this,
Dieter will officially visit Oregon the weekend of Dec. 9. He does not have an offer from the Ducks, but a scholarship from head coach Chip Kelly and company would definitely provide SMU some serious competition.

“Coach (Scott) Frost told me to save them a visit and don’t make any decisions before I come,” Dieter said.

Dieter plans on announcing his college decision at the Semper Fidelis All-America Bowl in early January, and added that he may also take a trip to Northern Illinois.

Shouldn't be too hard to pry him away from SMU but I think he is a secondary option if we don't snag some other guys, namely Foster.

As I (rather abashedly) revealed earlier, I was reading his Twitter account and he tweeted about wearing his Ducks hoody and how it was the most comfy. I agree that, if they want him, it looks like he'd be willing to come to Oregon. And it also seems like he's being treated like a backup choice.

The 15 max scholarship limit doesn't start until this year and that was always going to hurt them far worse then the bowl ban. Their fans can puff their chests out as much as they want, it doesn't change the writing on the wall.

btw... Barkley just filed his NFL early entry draft papers. Most everyone projects him and fellow JR Matt Kalil as top half of the 1st round picks

15 scholarships is... brutal. They already have 11 commits. As much as I'd hate that they are going to get whichever four remaining guys they want, if we're going head-to-head for more than four players, at least it'll increase our chances on that fifth one. :)

A Rose Bowl victory could cure that.

they'll be able to bend this a little this year by having up to 3 players qualify for last years class as Early Enrollees, but this scholarship limit is still going to hurt a lot. The top shelf types they go after tend to have better NFL prospects, so like Barkley and Kalil they'll continue to have a higher rate of true Juniors looking to go pro early... Robert Woods would be a good guess to go pro early next year. Fewer players coming in + a higher rate of attrition = a shrinking roster. Remember how gassed they were in the 4th Q this year?

btw... off the top of my head, recruits we are seemingly going head to head with USC for include Ellis McCarthy, Kevon Seymour & now DJ Foster
