Wade

That said, Bradley Beal is no Wade when it comes to athleticism.

I pass on Beal. Undersized without great athleticism.

all the players mentioned save West are taller then Beal. I should have said in the last 15 years too because the game relies so much more on defense and athleticism then in any other time. If Beal has a great wingspan then its a different story but right now im seeing Bayless 2.0 in him. Much rather have ewill then him, he might change with combine reports but I doubt it.

Via his ESPN draft profile:

Height: 6'5"
Weight: 195 lbs.
Reach: 8'3"
Wingspan: 6'8"

The size of Ray Allen -- who measured 6'3.5" (w/o shoes) during his stint in the Olympics.

Let's just hold off until the combine before we start posting "official" measurements.

Anthony Davis was invited, along with Harden, to be apart of Team USA tryouts.

HoopsWorld's 1st mock draft by 4 of their writers.......

If we turn both picks into Beal i'm gonna be pissed. Turn both our picks into Monte Ellis great then were screwed defensively at that position. Can anyone point out a superstar short SG who can actually play D?
I agree, and i think Ford is wrong; it's after the first FOUR picks that the draft really drops off.

As far as I am concerned, that would be super if Cleveland picks Beal like all four writes expect, possibly pushing Drummond down.

Drummond and Lamb would be a terrific draft. I don't think I would want to trade either of those picks with the type of potential they both have and the rather limited return we would be getting probably.

The picks are pretty valuable. If we trade them we would be getting our moneys worth, to get limited value from them would be to just trade them to trade them.

Based on correlation, I say we try to get a #2 or a #3 ranked player with our highest available pick. Maybe they don't have that ego like the #1 or that stress of "I have to prove I'm number 1" or they have the drive to prove they should have been a number 1. (without doing any research) There have been more busts recently at the #1 then at the number 2 or 3 in early age rankings.

Who?

Going back 20 years, I only see three real "busts", and Oden was due to injury. Joe Smith, Bargnani, and Andrew Bogut aren't really 'busts', but I'll count Smith, since he's bounced around the league, even though he's been around forever.

2011 Cleveland Cavaliers Kyrie Irving Duke
2010 Washington Wizards John Wall Kentucky
2009 Los Angeles Clippers Blake Griffin Oklahoma
2008 Chicago Bulls Derrick Rose Memphis
2007 Portland Trail Blazers Greg Oden Ohio State
2006 Toronto Raptors Andrea Bargnani Italy
2005 Milwaukee Bucks Andrew Bogut Utah

2004 Orlando Magic Dwight Howard SW Atlanta Christian Academy
2003 Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron James St. Vincent-St. Mary HS (OH)
2002 Houston Rockets Yao Ming China
2001 Washington Wizards Kwame Brown Glynn Academy (GA)
2000 New Jersey Nets Kenyon Martin Cincinnati
1999 Chicago Bulls Elton Brand Duke
1998 Los Angeles Clippers Michael Olowokandi Pacific
1997 San Antonio Spurs Tim Duncan Wake Forest
1996 Philadelphia 76ers Allen Iverson Georgetown
1995 Golden State Warriors Joe Smith Maryland
1994 Milwaukee Bucks Glenn Robinson Purdue
1993 Orlando Magic Chris Webber Michigan
1992 Orlando Magic Shaquille O'Neal Louisiana State

As for #2 picks, I can think of Darko, Beasley, Marvin Williams, Okafor, and Thabeet off of the top of my head since 2003. I suppose I could go back another 13 years and find more examples, but you get my point.

Doesn't matter the reason, he's still a bust...

It does matter. Doesn't make him not a bust but drafting a player who doesn't play due to injury (Oden) is better then drafting a player who just didn't have what it takes to be a good NBA player (Kwame). One shows a gamble that didn't work out, while the other shows either 1) Lack of talent evaluation 2) Bad training/coaching staff who failed to properly bring along the talent.

Um, yeah, is Oden playing for you right now? Is he playing for anyone right now? Is he playing well?

Of course he is a bust. The word "bust" is a pretty overarching term and should definitely apply to guys like Oden who end up useless after a few years in the league.

Bryant Reeves was less of a bust than Oden. Greg is the textbook definition of a bust.

Here we go again, arguing over the definition of "bust."

I'm not arguing over the definition of Bust. I'm just saying that it does matter why the person is a bust.

I think perhaps you misread westnob's post. He was referencing the "early age" rankings, or in otherwords, the high-school class rankings Blaze keeps obsessing over. He was not talking about actual NBA draft position.

Oden is a bust for POR...but not b\c he lacked talent , was a headcase , lazy etc....

He was a bust b\c he was the #1 pick and has been injury plagued....Barring injuries I have no doubt he would have been a #2\#3 type of guy...maybe more...

POR was just unlucky...injuries are a part of the sport....certainly you can question POR mgmt after Roy & Oden and there propensity to devalue? injury reports....but the talent was there wth Oden, he displayed it when he played...He just has been unable to overcome the injuries...

A bust at #1? Yes...

Worthy of the #1 pick? Yes....

We should be discussing what current players will we be trading the picks for.

Exactly. This idiot management team thinks it can retool and compete for a title. They probably won't use our one pick on a rookie.

The only thing Greg was a bust in, was checkers!ImageUploadedByTapatalk1336413428.813165.jpg
