to be clear... Ifo Jackson and Dargan all had more tackles then Jordan
Every season involves turnover, but the loss of Senior leaders is rarely filled by incoming Freshman. Almost always guys already in the program step into that void. Returning players who've underwhelmed initially often take big steps forward with another year of training in the program under their belts. For sure those guys listed above will be fondly remembered, but I can recall these exact same type of concerns were being expressed when Matthews Paysinger and Rowe were graduating. Good thing the Duckies have many bad asses already on board, I'm looking forward to them adding a few more

In other news, Reuben Foster decommits from Auburn. He has Georgia, Bama, and Washington in his schools to visit.
Washington?
Really?
And this is from the kid who had a tattoo of the Auburn logo on him.
Jordan presence on the field commands and double allowing others to tackle more! Nice logic!
Tell that to AA, Buckner, DAT, Marshall, Addison, Colt and Balducci! OOO would that be our most explosive offensive player our starting DLine for two games and our best TE who all have played meaingful minutes as true freshman? Perhaps as always we'll just agree to disagree!
I'm all for diamond in the rough recruits, but I think we have a few already and another with Joe Miller is not quite my ideal.
I hear ya, but some of my favorite Ducks ever are those Diamonds in the rough. So I still get excited. Byrd, Chung, and Thurmond had a combined 7 Stars out of 15 possible. I tried to look up Ward so I could get the full D-Boys total, but am having trouble locating it.
I know, I know. And Miller is JC who are often under evaluated. Maybe that experiance will help him make a move fast. I just are worried about next years LB corps.
There's this LB in Alabama named Zach Cunningham who got an offer from Oregon. But the Tide are itnerested as well. If we could nab him, that'd be huge.

Edit: Speak of the devil, says that Oregon offered Jaynard

How many commits does Alabama have left?
Bostwick did get a conditional offer and is interested in setting up a visit. Rumor might have a commit per Biggins. Not sure who, maybe that 2 star Joe Walker if he visits.

The answer is of course that they were all backups except arguably DAT. Being pressed into a starting role because of injury doesn't make one the starter, it makes them a backup filling in with a spot start. The starting roles that the departing seniors left are almost without exception filled by guys already in the program
Joe Walker officially committed to Oregon
How do you feel about 247 giving him a full analysis recently and only grading him a 2 star? (they obviously don't think highly of him.)
They may pretty much be armchair scouts, but they do look at a lot of players.
Where your logic is again clearly lagging is if these guys were in the system as you keep preaching why were Buckner, AA, DAT, COLT, Balducci, Addison, Stanford, Brown needed right now to fill in when these starters were injured? Where's the depth you speak of at these positions? If they are there as you rant, these kids wouldn't be needed right now, would they? They were needed for their talent which is a mix of a few major ingrediants, size, strength, ability and being damn good high school football players and that goes back to the need for GREAT RECRUITING thus what this thread is about!
So you can talk all you want about the system and cupboard not bare and blah blah but great recruits like AA, DAT, COLT, BUCKNER, Marshall and Addison seem to cut the line in a hurry! That's why recruiting is soooooo important and stars do count!
BTW Stomp - A spot start is an occasional play here and there, I don't think it's fair or honest to say AA, Buckner, DAT, COLT, Marshall, Addison, Johnstone or "Grassu last year'" spot started!
Heres what the national recruiting guys at rivals are saying as to why he hasn't been rated by them. Because of injury Joe didn't play last year and hadn't shown what he could do at the JC level, so he wasn't on the radar going into this season. Coming off a huge year (100+ tackles), having excellent size and speed, and generating offers from two top 10 programs, I'm pretty sure that he'll be rated by all the sites before signing day.

He ranked him 6 days ago, there is no time lag excuse, if he is better than that they should have ranked him so. Either it is a huge failure on what they mean 247 to be ranking wise, or they are just trying to pull a fast one by fluffing the people who pay for their Oregon Articles.
They have some of the more delusional fans going he's better than Mike Mitchell, or well at least as good.
