btw... in the past week rivals top 250 types who've stated that Oregon will be getting one of their fall Official Visits include Chris Hawkins, Jaynard Bostwick & Wyatt Teller

here's an interesting quote of Teller on UO..."What's not to like about Oregon? The coach came in and he humbled me. He said, 'We're either going to win with you or we're going to win without you.' And that's tough to say that as a driving point but that stuck out to me. That's respect."

TL;DR: Stomp is wise and knowledgable about this, and GP you should calm down.

Besides, Oregon has good coaching, and they want the Recruits they feel would suit their system best, not because they god level. I mean, did they recruit Browne? No. Bigelow? No. Monty Adams? Nope.

They take mid level recruits and stomp all over the competition. I mean, they did thrash USC and Stanford for 2 years before last year.

People should just relax and let things take care of itself. I mean, it's not like Auburn and Alabama with Foster jumping to the Tigers(which I find hilarious due to the fires being made between the 2 schools). The equivalent of that is if Tyner goes to Corvallis, and he wants UO for sure.

Basically, let's just calm down and enjoy the ride. Watching CFB Recruiting is fun after all. It's why I joined in the first place :V

Edit: Liking Teller. I think he's our next one.

On a side note the one elephant in the room that really needs to be addressed is Oregon High School Football! It's a joke! It's time for Oregon to create some powerhouse football teams, in the east coast where I grew up we had high school prep schools that were basically feeder programs to ACC and SEC schools. FUMA, HARGRAVE, Woodberry Forest, Collegiate, Oak Hill and so on.....

Oregon needs some of these.... We need to stop picking out of Cali and Texas and groom our own studs.... Think Jesuit on steroids where the Ducks get the first call on kids much the way De La Salle calls USC first....

I want other coaches coming to Oregon begging to get a crack at our talent where we pull a USC and say NOPE it all stays with the Ducks!

2011 Population by state

California 37.7 Million
Texas 25.7 M
Washington 6.8 M
Arizona 6.5 M
Colorado 5.1 M
Oregon 3.9 M
Utah 2.8 M

while this is of course a generalization, which players would you rather have on the team? 22 year old 5th year team first Seniors who were *3s coming out of HS or 20 year old primadonna former HS *5s Juniors with their eyes fixated on their draft prospects? I can recall CE Keiser/Bo Thran types winning the day vs the Everson Griffens of the world pretty vividly

For the reading impaired, I'm not saying/implying Oregon shouldn't go after the high ranked kids. I am saying that there is a lot more to building a winning college program then how many stars a kid has following his Jr year in HS

It's a hard question to answer. If it came down to a 4-star speed RB or a 5-star bruiser RB who's a full step slower out of the backfield, I'll take the speedster as he fits the offense better. I'd also take the speedy 4-star LB over the slower, bigger 5-star LB. ON the O/D-lines I'd probably want the 5-star, but usually there isn't s big difference between the two. All this to say, I want players who fot the system best regardless of stars. If we can get a 5-star player who fits the system, then cha-ching. Lastly, there's this... I like depth. It's what separates the good from the best. Rather than always trying for the home run, I'll take doubles as well.

That you think you're on the right side of the fan masses with your fire Kelly and Crew dilutions is precious... keep sharing the noledge/laughs

I've never once called for the firing of Chip Kelly! Not Once! I think our recruiters need to be replaced but you as always embellish when it's convenient to attack which is classic for a passive agressive narcissistic personality like you have!
Get a threrapist and up your meds!

Really? Correcting spelling now? WOW!

Good grief you're a clueless Sly Poker Dogg. An internet troll is someone who throws out ridiculous insulting inflammatory BS on a message board begging for a response. Repeated claims that you know better then the coach of the PAC 12's three time defending champs and suggesting that he and/or his staff should be replaced easily qualifies as trollish behavior. That or idiotic... your pick

Oh you mean YOU AGAIN!! Sorry was irony to big a concept for you? I'll try and simplify my writing style for you so the "TIPTOE" can digest it!

I bet you can't link a single one of these statements by Oregon's recruiters. Why? Kelly and the other coaches/recruiters don't talk about individual recruits to the press let alone say who their main targets are. More BS from this sites main source of it.

Vanderdoes has been up here 7 time by his own accounts and his dad drove him to most of them... Was that for fun or ya just suppose he loves 10 hour road trips? Clearly he was a top get for us! Use your brain! Hutchings in high school video told how we were the first team to recruit him in his sophomore year and what a great relationship he had with in his words "coach Al". You know damn well both of these kids were top targets for the ducks, we didn't get them and you're to much a fucking coward to say we got beat! But hey? That's you!

I'm following recruiting in full knowledge that Oregon isn't going to get everyone they go after but, loving seeing the ground they're gaining overall.

This is my point simpleton..... "WE" didn't gain ground this year we got hammered and USC completely retooled! This isn't a speculation, every reporting agency in high school and college sports even USC alumni are saying they crushed it! Showing up Stomp doesn't mean you're competing, it just means you were there!
This year more than any we should have crushed it in recruiting coming off a Pac-12 championship, and a Rose Bowl victory! The fact you're even trying to put spin on this proves how clueless you are. But hey that's you!

I'm going to enjoy my weekend but not before I put you on ignore, I'm done bantering with you and wading through your endless insults!

Now that is a funny comment!

Um.....Losing Hutchings and Vanderdoes to USC is just like losing Foster to Auburn..... USC is our #1 rivals, the Beavers are just a W on our schedule and a needless trip to Corvalis every other year!

I've never once called for the firing of Chip Kelly! Not Once!

who do you think is the head recruiter of a program? Of course it's the 3 time defending Pac 12 champion's HC Chip Kelly. He directs and is responsible for the efforts of the other coaches who are the other recruiters. I'm pretty happy about winning the Rose Bowl & generally kicking ass and feel they've more then earned the right to run things as they feel they should. You've repeatedly claimed to know better and have called for heads to roll so UO can win the all important Recruiting Trophy... I'm more concerned about the one they award at the end of the year

 your hypocrisy, dunderheaded logic, and convoluted word salad posts are such a hoot! I'm going to continue to mock stupid comments from anyone... they just all seem to come from a special someone... okay and Wheels ;)

Makes me wish some kids wold just commit to Oregon. Because otherwise we wouldn't be fighting each other now won't we :V

following The Opening rivals put together a list of 10 players that improved their stock and 5 that dropped. Future PAC12 players who made the lists include Ducks O-Line commit Alex Redmond as one of the 10 that improved, while Fusky receiver Darrell Daniels & Trojan OLineman Nico Falah were in the 5 disappointments

Dudes, I concur. I actually enjoy your banter, but perhaps you can confine it to a few paragraphs, rather than a monograph? That way when I do a quick check in I can read it all! Also, my 8 year old niece just finished the Be Nice book. Great book. Don't say mean things. No name calling, hair pulling and the like. You dudes need a copy!

I'm just not sold on the 5* recruits as a concept. The problem I see is that they measure players the way the NFL does these days: what stats did you put up, how fast do you run the 40, how many reps can you do, and so on... I've seen tape of "5*" dudes who look slow, but clock a fast 40. I've seen 3 and 4* who have football speed and are just better in pads.

I think this is why we compete without a ton of 5* dudes. It's all about guys who are 5* on the field, not on Rivals or ESPN. You can see it. Instinct. Football speed. Natural technique on the O line, solid tackling at LB. The intangibles that make guys like Jeff Maehl and LeMichael special.

We find guys who show something on tape, then coach them up. It's a great system and it works. Just take a look at our new O lineman putting it on Eddie V. Lower ranking, but dude can can play!

The rating system is hype with little substance. Hey, it's exciting to land those dudes, but a lot of the time 5* means nothing. Just look at Texas. CASE CLOSED! Show me the tape, not the rankings!

mj

PS - That said, it was great getting DeAnthony, a dude who was 5* in the rankings and on the field...

Clearly someone missed the memo that signing day for this year's class is a half year away. In an effort to take out some of the remaining piles of trash that GP laid around here yesterday, here's rivals ranking of classes head to head w/USC for the last 10 years.

2003 USC #3 Oregon #26
2004 USC #1 Oregon #17
2005 USC #1 Oregon #28
2006 USC #1 Oregon #49
2007 USC #2 Oregon #11
2008 USC #8 Oregon #19
2009 USC #4 Oregon #32
2010 USC #1 Oregon #13
2011 USC #4 Oregon #9
2012 USC #8 Oregon #16

As it's been noted by several other posters in attempts to curb our special Duck fan's comical death spiral, while USC is yet again on pace for a top rated class Oregon has clearly been trending up. More importantly, these newest recruits aren't falling victim to academic admission issues that keep them from enrolling like say the 2007 class where 2 of UO's top recruits (Wade, Fili) didn't make it in. In the past 3 seasons the Ducks have only lost 6 players... 3 to medical and 3 to transfer.

Even with the huge disparity in class rankings, since the '94 Rose Bowl the Ducks best the Trojan 8-6 in head to heads. It's going to be fun to see what Chip can accomplish with this higher grade of talent that is taking over the roster.

Nice, guess our fears will be laid to rest.

In other news, am I not the only one excited for Florida State's upcoming season? I think they could go all the ahoy.

here is a DT Article that asks a lot of the same questions you have Ghost Pepper. Hope you enjoy the article.

We aren't even in the top 25 recruiting classes in the nation right now!!!! We're ranked #4 in the country. That should say something to you!

One heap of stinking trash at a time. I'm sure it will come as a big surprise to everyone here, but it doesn't seem GP understands how the class rankings work (at least on rivals). The highest rated 20 commits in a class accumulate points towards class rankings. So a school like UW with 17 commits comes in at #14 for now. If you query the database average stars, Oregon is currently 7th in the country while Washington is 25th. Also pretty good chance some of Oregon's 3* commits move up in the next round of evaluations as they've been showing very well at the camps

And in other news, Jalen Ramsy from Nashville, Tenn, committed to USC today. That makes it their 3rd DB in their 15man class and they have enough room for 3 more scholarships. No doubt this could turn off Hargreaves and McQuay.

actually this could be awesome in Oregon's chances at getting Hargreaves III.

actually I never even knew that lol! Probably cause I never cared about class # rankings so I never looked into why schools ranked where they did.

well you (and no one else) never threw a hissy about what our class rating was this time of year...

I didn't. I just went with the flow :V

And about VH3, I think now that USC is taken he'll want to stay in State and either go under his dad at USF or UF or Miami. McQuay has Michigan, USC, and Vanderbilt in his top 3. Makes me kinda irritated that Priest Willis may go to LSU now that USC has a stud DB class(hate it when SEC pluck in PAC-12 turf. You have you're own star studded region >:V)

Kinda off topic: Also, as I may go into the Sports Management for a job, and the schools I know who have good programs are WVU, Michigan, FSU, Buckeyes. Does Uni of Oregon have one?

In other recruiting news, #1 CB Kendall Fuller narrows down his top 2: Clemson and Virginia Tech. As a Michigan fan I am a bit displeased, but they may get McQuay now :V

Still no news for Oregon. Has it always been this slow in early-middle recruiting cycles?

I understand that the beginning of July is when football coaches typically take vacations. Kelly & Frost are running with the Bulls in Spain, Greatwood is in Italy... probably not going to be much action in the short term

Eh, true. But the real action for commits hits in the fall I suppose.

Whelp.

There goes any Cal recruiting power for Oregon now :V

Edit: inb4 GP goes on a rant
