Let Green go to Michigan or V-Tech. We got Tyner and Wilson already, and Marshall ahead of them so we're gonna be fine.
 
Wilson runs like LMJ and catches like the Mamba! Damn the OOOO is deep at the RB spot!


I could surely see Green going to Vatech as well but damn we'd make him a national champion, Vatech will make him an orange bowl regular.... This kid is a punisher!

But V-Tech is just a couple hours drive. And Eugune is a 4+ hour flight into the Red Eye. There's money to be involved involving travel.

But if we get Green, we may lose Wilson. But that's a maybe though
 
If I had to pick between Green and Tyner? I'd pick Green and keep Wilson..... My gut tells me Tyner is injury prone. A Greg Oden if you will. The best running back we never had! I hope I'm wrong!

Green would punish a team and Wilson and the Mamba will run them to death..... Not a bad triple threat!
 
What is going on with Kyle Long? This kid is from my hometown..... does he have enough time to learn the playbook and be effective as a starter this year? Howie gushes about his raw talent, but is there time?
 
Great to hear about Wogan. With what happened with Alejandro last time against USC we'll need good kickers :V

Nkemdiche is still with Clemson, using them as a way to get his teammates in and Robert Foster is undecided still

Edit: You mean't Robert right? Reuben Foster committed to Auburn and made Tide fans ass-pained.

I only wanted a few guys this year, who I thought would be great hub pieces..... Vanderdoes, Hutchings and Redd, outside of those guys this kid from Port St. Lucies would take the sting out of Vanderdoes, but in honesty we're in good shape and next year if you're a top recruit being second or third string on the USC roster might not seem as cool as being a Duck especially after we smash their asses and kill their national championship run this year and we take their place "AS IT SHOULD BE" with our fourth Pac-12 championship, and 4 straight BCS bowl!

Kyle Long is impressing coaches in practice and is making a push to earn a starting spot.. You'll definitely see him get some more playing time and reps this year. Also, saw somewhere that he was trying to petition for another year of eligibility.
 
Tacoi Sumler leaves the program. Bummer. Looked so good on tape. I guess this proves that nothing is a sure thing in recruiting.

Anthony Davis, the #1 overall pick in this year's NBA draft, grew 8" after his Jr. season in HS to go from a unibrow in the crowd to the country's top prospect. I grew that same amount after my 17th birthday... then I had about a year of being clumsy & slow at the new size before my strength and coordination caught up. Many guys are going through big physical transformations at this time in their lives so the heirachy of HS talent is a fluid situation. Like every other year, new top prospects will emerge between now and signing day & some verbally committed guys will flip to other programs.

The 2013 Oregon class seems like it's off to a great start and is similar in size to recent past classes at this same point. I'd expect they continue to close well.

I guess where we disagree in the recruiting process Stomp is I feel after 3 Pac-12 championships, and 3 BCS bowls and a Rose Bowl victory, housed in the best facilities in the nation, with the coolest marketing campaign, governed by the best Pac-12 coach, I would tend to think that should tip the scales our way with atleast 4 of the west best recruits. I don't want to be greedy, but fuck Lamo Kiffin isn't even on the same playing field as Chip Kelly as a coach. I'm surprised these recruits aren't seeing that.

Sure we can coach up 3 and 4 *'s to become great players, but getting the sheer talent of a DAT right out of the gates is nice too!

I really think the Ducks could have made Eddie Vanderdoes, Micheal Hutchings and Max Redfield playing with AA and Deforest Buckner a defense that would be legendary!

At USC I see two of these guys never seeing their or playing to their ultimate potential, because they don't have the coach to do it with and they are horses in a stable of what have you done for USC lately....

Perhaps it'll take another USC beatdown this year in their "national championship year' for the shift to begin!

That said Oregon must develop some good high school football... so Cali isn't our fist stop to retooling the Ducks....
 
you say you disagree but then show you missed my point. The top recruits at the end of their Jr year aren't necessarily the top recruits at the end of their Sr. year let alone a couple years later in college. It's not just a matter of coaching up kids, it's also being able to project which kids will fill out and who has the character to put in the work to be their best. There are countless examples of *5 rated kids who end up doing nothing in college.

of course USC did sign a number of kids who also held Oregon scholarships offers, but almost all of those kids were from their backyard... it's not like they don't have alluring qualities as a program and school that can't match up to Oregon's cool marketing campaign.

That said Oregon must develop some good high school football... so Cali isn't our fist stop to retooling the Ducks.

again, this is a matter of numbers. Oregon has approx. 1/10th the population as their neighbor to the South and is the 2nd to last in State populations with schools in the Pac 12. Unless this dynamic dramatically changes, California will continue to be Oregon's main recruiting area.

btw...on the current 105 man roster there are 47 kids from California and 21 from Oregon

I'd say Virginia and Oregon are very similar in size, and Oregon has nothing like FUMA, Hargrave, Oak Hill or the Tidewater area to pick from on a high school level or as feeder programs into the Ducks and Beavers....

It's not about the size of your city or state population to make great high school programs, it's about coaching and building in a winning attitude in the little ones very early on!

It's a mentality in the south, not one I see out here in young people! Would you agree to that?

Think about this, Texas has four main cities, Dallas,Houston, San Antonio and Austin to some extent.......but Odessa, Tx puts out some bad ass teams yearly and they are nationally known for what they do! Oregon can build similar programs.....

You left out best facilities in the nation, best coach in Pac-12, and three Pac-12 championships, 3 straight BCS bowls, and a Rose Bowl Victory but yes Oregon is being noticed nationally for their Nike Marketing too!

My point is on three players Eddie, Micheal and Max..... These guys will be bigger next year and stronger than this year for sure... all of these guys will be impressive if "coached well"..... I don't see Eddie getting much taller but I can see all three putting on 10 pounds of muscle....

Virginia is less then half the size of Oregon yet has more then double the people... so no. Population and having more population density matters for having vibrant HS programs. You have a point that HS football in Oregon isn't Friday Night Lights, but people do care.

Also factor in the racial makeup of the states. African Americans make up a disproportionate percentage of college & pro football rosters compared to their national demographics. The State of Oregon's population is made up of only 2% African Americans. Compare that to Virginia's 20%

Nebraska did a fine job for many years under Osborne with huge mostly all white offensive and defensive lines.... Why? Amazing strength and weight room facilities that Oregons are better then now! Notably the most famous lineman the Huskers have had in 10 years came out of Ptown and he was of course of color in Suh!

Of course this is splitting hairs but Oregon can do better and must and Tyner may be a great start!

FYI- FUMA, Hargrave and Oak Hill kids that attend these school aren't all from Virginia! Half of my high school team was from all over the south.... Oregon can do the same with a school much like Jesuit or OES and devolop these programs.....get them here middle to high school and install Ducks into them early on.

Virginia has 8 million people. Oregon has what, 3.6 million at best? Plus, Virginia has the DC area, Baltimore, and other huge metro areas like Raleigh/Durham and Charlotte bordering it to pull from for recruits. Oregon and Washington combined aren't much bigger population wise than Virginia, which geographically is a much smaller state.

If that were true UVA would be a powerhouse and growing up in the Ville I can honestly tell you they were NOT!

North Carolina is no help because their kids stay Carolina or Clemson......

Baltimore is Maryland and oddly Penn St.'s turf.....

So you've got Richmond, Hampton, the Tidewater areas and parts of northern Virginia for UVA and Tech to battle over and Tech usually wins that war.

I just think Oregon can create some great Prep Schools out here. No violence and gangs like where I grew up, good schools, no racism and better food and air here too. I know that can sound trivial but Oregon has some perks kids from the south would love!
 
It's strange but from Norfolk to Richmond to all the Ville's south of Faquirier county, Portland seems like a giant city in comparison..... It's funny that my home state is double the size population wise cause it sure doesn't seem like it! Course the government areas up north from Quantico to DC have exploded people wise in the last 15 years....

I will say this with extreme joy.... Ptown and Oregon in general is soooooooo much less violent than DC and Virginia!

Anyone know if Carrington and tyner are still solid? I saw something that said the coaches have not been communicating much with Carrington since his commitment.

hadnt heard that. I assume that there would always be less to no communication while camp is going on. Thanks for the heads up Ike!

re Tyner: I read something to the extent of Tyner telling UCLA or someone that he is a Duck and always will be though. Cant remember where though sorry.
 
No need for communication because Carrington is staying committed to the elite D1 school that offered to him.

following his team's first game of the season last Friday night, James listed off this top 5 again placing Oregon 3rd behind Louisville & tOSU. He stated that he's being recruited by Chip & Frost & that he plans to take an OV. My speculation...it would be great if he could make it out for a game, but logistics make that unlikely. With connections, it's a 10-12 hour ordeal to go from Louisville to Eugene. Imagine what sort of impression he'd gather of UO if he did that first leg of the flight Saturday morning and then returned home Sunday :wacko: If he makes it out West, my guess is that it will be over the holidays so the travel won't be so overwhelming.
