Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

I wish we had the 5 pick. I'd trade Olapido for #12 and Lamb.

I'd be more confident of Oladipo being a contributor over Lamb, personally, but can see the value there of getting 2 for the priceof one, basically. I just think Oladiopo's motor and defense will transfer over better than Lamb's lack of motor and offense first.

That could mean trading point guard Jeremy Lin or center Omer Asik to a team with cap space for no immediate return. That is a nice way to say dumping an $8,374,646 million salary, the amount both Lin and Asik are due in the second season of their identical three-year, $25.12 million contracts.

They could waive sixth man Carlos Delfino ($3 million) or reserve point guard Aaron Brooks ($2.5 million), both of whom have June 30 deadlines before their salaries become guaranteed, meaning a decision would have to be made before the Rockets are allowed to meet with Howard. The nonguaranteed salaries of young projects Tim Ohlbrecht ($788,872) and James Anderson ($916,099) could also create the necessary space depending on where the cap falls, although the Rockets would pick up a cap hold of $490,180 in the process if they cut both because their roster would dip under 12 players. A salary-dump deal that would send 2012 No. 5 overall pick Thomas Robinson ($3.53 million) to his third team is another alternative.

A much less attractive option than finding an under-the-cap trade partner to take on the contract of Lin or Asik: Waiving one of them and using the stretch provision.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Would you do Houston a favor and take Lin off their hands for a future 2nd?

I would. IMO his best role is a backup. He is also big enough to play alongside Lillard. Talent wise, we'd be robbing HOU. However....

His contract is a bit expensive when you consider his likely role in Portland. He was also atrocious in the playoffs.

The no-brainer here is Asik. That's who you go after.

Iv heard nothing good about Lamb coming from OKC. Seems like he disappears during practices and has had a real problem competing for playing time. Would much much much much much rather have Olapido then Lamb and whoevers at 12.

Agreed that you go after Asik. I would only take Lin if it also netted us Asik.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

With Asik I'd deal LMA for DMC.

Asik is the ideal big to pair with Cousins.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

I wonder if there is a way we could swing a big deal with Houston to get them enough capspace to make a run at both CP3/Howard. Would need to be a 3 team deal but they have a lot of assets that would be nice to have Asik/Robinson/Parsons/Jones

Never really been a fan of starting two C's together. You can play DMC at the 4 but his game is really more of a centers and a team with a stretch four would cause us to have nightmares on the D.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

The #10 and Capspace for Asik and Trob (if necessary)

Was kinda curious where Fez was going with that.

Starting Asik and DMC leaves us...in an interesting spot. Neither has a reliable outside jumper, and neither is a great passer.

Which is becoming more and more common.

Bobby Brown, who is killing it in the SerieA playoffs right now, is a free agent and might come over to the NBA.

I couldn't find info on whether or not Bo McCalebb, who's probably a better NBA fit/talent, is a free agent, but either way, Brown would be a great bench addition for a team lacking scoring off the bench, and will probably be one of the more coveted free agents if he actually comes back to the States.

I'm also wondering, with Glen Rice, Jr. being considered anywhere from a lottery to late first round pick, where would Bobby Brown and Bo McCalebb be if they were thrown back into the draft process this summer after proving their worth as professionals abroad (granted Brown has already had his time in the NBA, given more freedom over in Italy he really proved that he could more than excel in a primary role).

Hey, the Blazers were the team that originally drafted Marcus Brown. Bobby has a way to go to reach his namesake's Euro-legend.

It's obvious that certain players are better suited to Europe. Jeremy Pargo was amazing in Europe, but not so much the NBA. Brandon Jennings was the reverse. And Rubio looks better for the Timberwolves than he did for Barcelona (but that might've just been the coach). I have a feeling Nolan Smith could thrive over there.

Mike Malone is a living lock 2B Kings' head coach, I'm informed. Don't know time frame of announcement, but go to sleep on it happening.

If Malone becomes the Kings' coach by June 2013, I see the Kings in the playoffs by April 2015.

Seems like he will be a great coach. Wish PDX would have liked him more

And the West just got that much better

One part of the Dwight Howard market could be very interesting for the GSWs: Teams possibly dropping/moving players to create cap space.

Houston has a team option on F Carlos Delfino. If he's jettisoned, that's a guy who could fit the Warriors very nicely.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Amazing, the Kings will have made the first intelligent move in years right after the Maloofs were kicked out.

@TheRocketGuy @DTPERKINS23 He asked if the Lakers fired D'Antoni would that make D12 stay. I told him it'd be a start but maybe not enough

Bill Ingram ‏@TheRocketGuy 2m
@ARankin11 @DTPERKINS23 Oh, OK. I've been told the Lakers won't fire D'Antoni because it shows they don't know what they're doing.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Is Malone the same guy that was drawing up plays for Mike Brown's err... LeBron's Cavs? He was a good Xs and Os coach-- what better play can you come up with than give it LBJ, and get out of the way?

Name sounds familiar. I remember a gif of him (i think) and all the players huddled up with Mike Brown twiddling his thumbs on the side.

Spurs don't appear to be on D12's radar, but they do have space to sign him and re-sign Manu, as well. There's a championship team for you.

Holy Cow! Yikes!

Not sure how he figures that's possiblle, unless Howard takes a big paycut. If the cap goes up to 60 like projected, they'd have roughly 19 million in space. But they also would have Manu's cap hold, ad Splitter's cap hold. So waive Splitter, renounce Manu, sign Howard, and then Manu's going to waht, take the room exception of 2.6?

I didnt do the math but I thought that didnt sound right.

Manu isn't a RFA, is he? Don't think he has a cap hold. Could be completely wrong.

Edit - On hoopsworld, they really don't have much cap room tied up next year. TP gets 12.5. Duncan gets 10.4. Manu isn't a RFA.

48 mill is what they have if they keep everything. Could easily renounce Splitter, cut Bonner, Mills, and Diaw, and have a bit of room
